Officer Candidates

Hope McCormick - '27
What Health Science class are you taking in next year?
Health Science Theory
Why are you fit for the officer team?
I’ve competed in events in both of my years in being in HOSA and participated in plenty of volunteer opportunities, giving me a solid understanding of how the organization operates. I’ve experienced firsthand how meetings, events, and volunteer activities run, and I’m familiar with the environment as I’ve had friends who have been in this program as well as some who have been helping run the program!
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
Competition Chair, Social Chair, Secretary
What does HOSA mean to you?
I’ve been involved in HOSA for the past two years and I’ve learned that it truly is more than just an organization for future medical professionals—it’s a supportive community where I’ve had the chance to learn and grow alongside others who share the same interests. Beyond offering spots for competition, HOSA has offered numerous volunteer opportunities, allowing me to make a positive impact while developing skills that will benefit me and plenty of others in the future.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
Along with HOSA, I am employed as a team member at Chick-Fil-A, BUT in order to manage my time effectively, I prioritize tasks and create schedules to balance my responsibilities. I am committed to staying organized and ensuring that my duties as a HOSA officer remain a top priority, while still making time for other activities. Not only that but also I will plan to adjust my schedule and availability accordingly so it will not interfere with meetings nor volunteer opportunities!
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
The officer team is already doing such an amazing job with organization and so much more, but I believe the officer team could benefit from more regular communication and collaboration to ensure everyone is on the same page. Not only that but also I feel like it would be nice to connect with some other organizations when participating in donation events or volunteer events! Additionally, I feel like it will be nice for more resources to be available for those who are participating in competition.
What skills or strengths do you bring to the officer team, and how do you plan to use them in your role?
I bring strong communication and organizational skills to the officer team. I am able to clearly convey ideas and work well with others, which helps in planning and executing events. I’m also reliable and dedicated, so I’ll make sure tasks are completed on time and with attention to detail.
What is your vision for the future of our HOSA chapter, and how do you plan to help achieve it?
The HOSA organization at our school has already done SO much, like I’ve said before, and I believe that our biggest goals should help build on that by encouraging more student involvement. I’d like to see more members work toward lettering in HOSA, take part in events, and get involved in volunteering. I also hope to bring in new volunteer opportunities so more people can find something they’re excited about! A way that this can be achieved may be by partnering with other clubs in Grans Oaks or possibly even collaborating with neighboring HOSA chapters at different schools!

What Health Science class are you taking in next year?
Health Science Theory and pharmacology
Why are you fit for the officer team?
I’m fit for the officer team because I exemplify strong leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities. I’m able to take the initiative and motivate others when under pressure. I’m not afraid to speak my mind when I disagree with something, do not understand a situation, or have any questions. I’m also able to think strategically and solve problems when they arise.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
Secretary, social chair, and competition chair.
What does HOSA mean to you?
To me, HOSA represents a vibrant community dedicated to fostering future healthcare leaders. It’s a platform that helps allow me to explore various healthcare career paths and cultivate a passion for a career that I might have in mind. HOSA’s emphasis on leadership development, competitive events, and community service creates an overall well-learning experience that can extend beyond school, helping me prepare for success in my future career path!
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
Other commitments that I have are helping my parents take care of my younger siblings. To manage my time, I’ll create a detailed schedule outlining my daily and weekly responsibilities. I’ll prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance, allowing time for HOSA activities, taking care of my siblings, and personal time. I’ll make sure to communicate to my club members and family to ensure everyone is aware of my limitations.
What skills or strengths do you bring to the officer team, and how do you plan to use them in your role?
I bring strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills to the officer team, along with a deep passion for leadership and healthcare! I’m someone very dependable and organized, making sure deadlines are met and tasks are followed through. I plan to use these skills in my role as an officer to help the officer team stay coordinated and efficient. Ultimately, I want to use my skills to help make our HOSA chapter a club where every member feels supported, motivated, and excited to be a part of HOSA.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
An idea that I have is to see more interaction between members and the officers. Having a strong connection with the people who help lead our HOSA chapter would definitely help students connect more as a community. Another idea that I have is more hands-on events, like guest speakers or maybe even field trips. Having more hands-on events would help make more of an impact and allow students to expand more on the relevance of being apart of HOSA.
What is your vision for the future of our HOSA chapter, and how do you plan to help achieve it?
My vision for our HOSA chapter is for it to expand more on its impact and relevance at our school. I plan to help achieve this by getting feedback from others on how to improve, engage members more meaningfully, and possibly build more partnerships! I want our chapter to not only be known as a club meant for students interested in the medical field, but also as a club that empowers students to lead with purpose and compassion.

Why are you fit for the officer team?
I believe my strong passion, commitment, and leadership skills I have learned throughout my highschool career qualifys me to be a great addition to the officer team! Like I said in my previous responses, I have developed a strong passion for this program over the past year, which I believe a true and authentic leader should obtain. My commitment to this program has been clear since the beginning of this year where I have attended every hosa meeting except one (due to sickness) up until this point. I have also had many experiences in leadership such as my role of social officer on my former dance team. Throughout my term as a social officer I have learned many skills such as party planning, social media poster making, fun and exciting icebreaker games, but most importantly discipline, communication, balance, and resilience.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
Social Chair, Secretary, Treasurer
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA is not just a medical group to me, Its a place to make new friends, share experiences, help others, and so much more. When I first transferred to Grand Oaks this year I fell in love with this program because it had felt like I had found my place, my community. Even when I felt lonely due to the shift in schools Hosa has made me feel even more welcomed and allowed me to make core friendships I am forever greatful for. Even though this is my first year on hosa I have already developed a strong passion for it and I want to inspire underclassmen and other students my age to find this passion too aswell as push there selves to there full potential in the medical field! I could never imagine myself with out this program and I would never even consider leavening. To conclude my statement hosa is like family to me.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
This year I have participated in two campus organizations; Spark and Student Council, and I also work at Rasing Canes,. Throughout my journey in leadership I have learned how to effectively balance my time and attention on multiple different groups and activities and believe that I have developed the skills necessary to balance an officer position with my daily schedule.
What skills or strengths do you bring to the officer team, and how do you plan to use them in your role?
One of my greatest strengths is that I understand how it feels to be new and understnand the importance of organizational participation in creating a sense of belonging on such a large school campus. This has inspired me to try to help people make friendships and connections through the HOSA program, which leads to core friendships and memories in the HOSA environment! An example of how I plan to do this is by creating fun icebreaker games and encouraging HOSA members to make new friends every meeting. Whether its sitting by someone you have never talked to or playing a fun icebreaker game with a complete stranger!
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
One way the HOSA officer team can be improved is to organize social gatherings and dinners to further strengthen the social bonds within our organization. My experience as a social officer for my former dance team has taught me to value of personal connections and friendships among leaders. A friendly leadership team encourages a friendly organization. As officers, it will be our responsibility to support one another and develop strong friendships for the greater of HOSA!
What is your vision for the future of our HOSA chapter, and how do you plan to help achieve it?
For our Chapter of HOSA, I envision a positive and social community as well as an involved team inspired to volunteer and contribute to our Grand Oaks community in ways that are positive and meaningful!

What Health Science class are you taking in next year?
Pharmacy Technician
Why are you fit for the officer team?
I think there are 3 pillars to every officer: passion, preparation, and presentation.
If there is anything I bring to the table- it's passion. I breathe purpose into every project, every meeting, and every idea I create. My dedication to HOSA is not just something I do—it’s something I feel. I believe service is powerful, leadership is a responsibility, and healthcare is more than a career—it’s a calling. To be entirely honest, it's hard to find people who truly care for a position beyond the title that comes with it, but I can guarantee I do. I am truly so excited to see the impact we will make next year, and I hope I will have a part in organizing it! :)
I may not be fully prepared for my AP exams in May yet, but I am totally prepared to be a HOSA officer next year!! My two years on the team has taught me so much about leading with empathy and heart. I have learned to create meeting slideshows, officer agendas, posters, contact organizations, create announcements, and send over 100 emails!! Communicating with members is an easy task now too- I know the "Snehal Srishti has published a post:" notifications have bothered you more than once. I’m not afraid to put in the work behind the scenes, and I genuinely care about creating a space where every member feels seen, supported, and inspired!
My officer experience also helps me with presentation. I know how to take initiative, support a team, and follow through on big ideas. I have presented slides and talked to members at so many meetings, and I'm a pro at communicating with the advisors too. I’m ready to lead with purpose and show you how incredible our club can be!

What does HOSA mean to you?
Family. As soon as I found the GOHS HOSA website in 8th grade, I knew it was exactly where I wanted to be- and I was right! After 3 years of meetings and competitions, 2 years of the officer team, and 225+ hours of volunteering, there is no other place I would rather call home. HOSA embodies the hope and passion I want to bring into the world, and it feels surreal to look back and see my growth throughout this journey– not just in leadership, but in passion, purpose, and people. HOSA gave me a place to connect with my closest friends, a voice to create change, and a future in healthcare that feels real. To me, it’s a place to not only achieve my dreams, but to help others find and achieve theirs as well. A place to lead with purpose and instill purpose. A place to be impacted and create impact. HOSA to me is more than competitions or service hours—it’s who I’ve become because of it, and I could not be more thankful. That’s also why being a HOSA officer means so much to me – it’s the amalgamation of my hours of effort, dedication, and the smile on my face when my friends and family ask when my next HOSA event is. (sorry dad for making you drive me everywhere)
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
I have the honor of also serving on the officer team for ResearchX and CSHS! It has been my favorite to learn skills from one organization and implement it into another. Due to it's large size, HOSA is always prioritized on my To-do list! I definitely understand the importance of deadlines and will ensure my best efforts in completing all work and dedicating ample time to HOSA.
What skills or strengths do you bring to the officer team, and how do you plan to use them in your role?
I am an excellent communicator and stay on top of my tasks! Whether its talking to the officers and the advisors about our next event or our members about the next service opportunity, I understand how important clarity and timeliness is in making sure information gets across! I also live, breathe, eat, and sleep in my google drive (and Canva) folder, so I can ensure all posters, flyers, and slides are made with readability and aesthetic-ness in mind. All of my information is very clean, organized, and proactive-- I don't hesitate to get things done, and my color coordinated google docs always comes in clutch when I need to find things. Beyond my skills, the biggest strength I bring to the team is my resilience. No matter what happens, I will always try to find a solution and reroute our team to try our best once more! Never back down, never what? Never give up.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
I feel the need for more communication between the officers and the advisors. Many times it felt like we were separately operating departments, but I believe a more seamless connection would work even better. I also think our officer team should be more involved with our members. I strongly believe checking in with members about competition will help erase the anxiety around the process, and allowing members to get to truly meet and know their officers means more open communication about questions! Member feedback is so important, and the more the team receives, the better ideas they can implement.
What is your vision for the future of our HOSA chapter, and how do you plan to help achieve it?
My vision for our HOSA chapter is a future where our chapter isn’t just known for what we do, but for who we uplift, how we serve, and the impact we leave behind. We currently stand as one of the biggest and most active chapters in our area- I want us to reach farther and expand our outreach into schools, shelters, and hospitals to truly solidify our impact as a club. My vision includes meetings that members look forward to attending, drives that people are eager to donate to, and making the name "HOSA" synonymous with service and passion for healthcare at our school. I plan to help us get there by leading with intention, listening with empathy, and showing up with the drive to do more together. I would love to create more activities at meetings that truly help members connect with each other, set up partnerships with organizations in and outside our school, and expand our blood drives to really reach our potential. I also plan on taking feedback from the members seriously and ensuring GO HOSA is a place for everyone to call home. The future of this chapter isn’t just bright-- it’s brilliant, I’m ready to help us shine!

Why are you fit for the officer team?
I believe I am a great fit for the officer team because of the strong dedication I have to HOSA's mission. With my leadership abilities and my commitment to HOSA, I will be able to support our members. Throughout my involvement within HOSA and my other extracurricular activities, I have consistently been able to show my abilities within a team by effectively collaborating with others and taking initiative when it comes to making a positive change. I am very passionate about ensuring that our members receive the best support so that they can reach their full potential, and I am committed to that cause. I will work to ensure the success of our chapter overall, too.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
Vice President, Secretary, and Competition Chair.
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA is one of the most important clubs to me. I say this because it's one of the first clubs I ever joined upon entering high school, and it showed me what it meant to be a part of a club. The experiences I've had in HOSA are ones I'll never forget— from helping people in meaningful ways to helping me step out of my comfort zone and grow more confident along the way. The community within HOSA is also something very special. I find HOSA is a place where like-minded people can meet, have fun, and learn more about health in general. HOSA is a club that gives opportunities for excitement, competition, and personal growth. All of these opportunities are what truly make HOSA at GOHS an amazing experience.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
I have a lot of commitments, especially in clubs, but I plan to manage my time effectively so that I can fully commit to being an HOSA officer. I'll make sure my meetings don't interfere with my HOSA responsibilities, and I plan to schedule any other meetings in a way that works around GOHOSA commitments.
What skills or strengths do you bring to the officer team, and how do you plan to use them in your role?
The skills I believe I will bring to the officer team include compassion, self-awareness, and strong organizational abilities. I'm someone who genuinely listens and cares about my peers. Through my experience in other clubs, I'm able to work well, collaborating in a team setting. All while trying my best to be self-aware so that I can reflect on my actions and know when to listen and when to lead. Finally, my organizational skills ensure that I will keep track of the tasks assigned to me so that volunteer events run smoothly. I plan to use these skills so that I can support my fellow officers, keep members informed, and overall create a positive, inclusive environment for everyone in HOSA.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
I believe that the GOHOSA team is working very well, but I'd love to create more opportunities to communicate directly with the members to hear their ideas. I would also like to make sure our officers stay on the same page and that we all collaborate effectively. In addition, I'd like to promote competition even more! While many of our members already participate, I believe promoting it—especially to our underclassmen and the incoming freshmen—is still very important. I hope to also collaborate with the other clubs I'm involved in so that we can build stronger bonds within the different organizations in our school. I also plan to work hard for our members to have the best volunteer opportunities, whether it be from the community or drives I plan to work hard to ensure our members have enough opportunities available to them.
What is your vision for the future of our HOSA chapter, and how do you plan to help achieve it?
My vision for the future of our HOSA chapter is an environment that's lighthearted and inclusive. I want to keep HOSA a place of fun interactions and socials but also make sure we stay on task with competitions and volunteer events. I plan to do this by making sure our HOSA socials stay engaging and fun for all members. However, most importantly, I also plan to ensure that members have the chance to participate in various volunteer events that will build our relations with the community, and I aim to continue the effort by actively promoting HOSA to new members for our recruitment. Overall, I want to make sure our members get the support they need to succeed and grow throughout their school journey.

Why are you fit for the officer team?
I believe I am a strong fit for the officer team because I am dedicated, dependable, and passionate about both healthcare and helping others succeed. I bring a positive and energetic attitude to all I do, because I believe that energy is contagious and with the right amount of motivation it can motivate those around me. As a former HOSA officer hoping to return, I have gained valuable leadership experience an know what it takes to support events and lead.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
Competition Chair, Social Chair, Treasurer
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA represents a strong community of dedicated health care students who are service-minded and highly driven. This is more than just another club, it is an opportunity for growth, leadership, and a place for new friends. HOSA has allowed me a clearer understanding for my future, and an irreplaceable set of skills. HOSA has helped me shape my goals throughout my high school experience, and i want to share that same foundation with as many students possible.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
I am involved in HOSA, my church youth group, and the varsity choir at GO. This past year as an officer has taught not only how to prioritize things, but gain time management skills. I use my calendar and a planner as the main way I organize the things I need to get done, such as homework, deadlines, and extra events.
What skills or strengths do you bring to the officer team, and how do you plan to use them in your role?
I bring my personal leadership experience and communication skills to the officer team. For around 2 years, I was the president for the young men program in my church. After that, I became the secretary counselor for another 2 years. These experiences, along with being a HOSA officer, has taught me patience, closed form communication, and support for all involved. I plan to use these strengths to engage more members, help new officers, and help HOSA run smoother.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
One area I think we could improve is the engagement and connection with members. There are some members who don't feel welcome or feel distant to the other members and the officers. By implementing some more games that connect the members and help them break out of their shell, they can open up and become excited in HOSA.
What is your vision for the future of our HOSA chapter, and how do you plan to help achieve it?
My vision for our HOSA chapter is a club where every member feels connected, involved, and inspired for their future, whatever it may be. I aim to see greater participation, attendance, and enthusiasm in the HOSA program. With interactive and more engaging meetings, these goals can be reached, and members will feel confident enough to ask for help.

Why are you fit for the officer team?
I am fit for the Officer team because of my passion for HOSA and its vision. As a member of HOSA, I have noticed some distance among the members, and some being scared to ask questions to receive help just because they are worried about how others will look at them. I want to be the voice for our members, and help everyone feel more welcomed and comfortable with being in this organization. HOSA creates amazing opportunities for everyone, and I wouldn’t want anyone to miss out just because they are scared to ask a question. Having our members be close and connected will make everything stronger: our drive for success, preparedness, service projects, and overall just supporting each other.
I have been in many leadership positions, and I’ve learned how to efficiently communicate, stay organized, and work with many different people. To be a part of the Officer Team, I know that it takes a strong, reliable leader to be fit for the position, but being a leader is not about doing everything alone, it’s about helping others reach their goals and knowing that I am in the same boat as everyone. Being a leader requires authenticity, strong communication, integrity, compassion, empowerment, continuous improvement, and putting others first. I am strong in these key components, and I will only continue to keep growing and enhancing these skills.
Helping others has always been one of my biggest passions. I am a huge service leader, and being able to help others grow and reach their goals makes me joyful and proud. I’m someone who always wants everyone to feel supported and heard. With me having this passion, HOSA has the same visions that I do. I naturally look out for what others need and try to make their experience better. I do not just want to lead, I want to serve, whether it’s something that no one can see behind the scenes or if that is lifting up someone who is discouraged to make sure they feel welcomed.

What does HOSA mean to you?
To me, HOSA is more than just an organization, it's a community full of dedicated, like minded individuals, that inspires and challenges us to become the best version of ourselves. Being in HOSA has only expanded my interest in the medical field and highlighted my passion for it. This organization uplifts our community and shows me how to make a change anywhere I am. This is a place where anyone can make an impact and share their ideas with those around them. HOSA has given me the opportunity to come out of my shell and develop my teamwork and service skills. Through HOSA, I have made many connections with those around me who share the same drive and vision as I do. HOSA allowed me to grow individually but also with those around me, and from this, I have made the most memorable memories in this organization. Becoming a HOSA officer is not just a title to me, I want to actually contribute, support, be there for everyone, and help make our chapter even better.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
Aside from HOSA, I am the 2025-2026 Senior Class President, I am in the Grand Oaks Band as a Section Leader, and I am also in varsity powerlifting. I will manage my time by making sure that I efficiently balance all my commitments and make sure to look ahead to be prepared for future events. I will make sure that no event randomly pops up on me, I will organize each necessity and event, and I will communicate early in advance.
What skills or strengths do you bring to the officer team, and how do you plan to use them in your role?
My main strengths are my leadership skills. As a part of the Student Leadership Team, being Senior Class President, and being a Grand Oaks Band Section Leader, I have learned a lot on how to lead a group of people. My other skills, such as my communication and teamwork skills, fall under this category, because to be a leader, you have to have all three skills. I plan to help anyone that asks me questions about any topic, and I will even reach out to people to make sure their boats are still floating and they are not crashing behind the scenes. I will use my teamwork skills in competition, and also help other groups improve as well. I will be more than happy to help my own, and other groups with any issue. I will make sure that I am the best leader I can be to improve our chapter as the Grand Oaks HOSA organization.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
The main improvement I feel should be implemented into the officer team is connection. I somewhat felt as if the members were one group, and the officers were another. I personally think being a leader is being a part of everyone else and not standing alone. With that, comes with being approachable, reaching out to others first, and always being a supportive and positive person someone can rely on.
What is your vision for the future of our HOSA chapter, and how do you plan to help achieve it?
My vision for the future of HOSA is to serve as many people as we can while also leaving behind an impact that we made. I do not want others to think that we are just a group of students who are forced to go out and provide service to others; I want people and other organizations to know that we came to make a change to our community and help others grow.
Another vision I have for the future of HOSA is creating a space where everyone feels supported, heard, and excited to be a part of our program. I do not want new members to be intimidated by the amount of people at the meetings or how scary the officers look. Making everyone feel welcomed is one of my biggest goals, and I will make sure that this goal is reached. From this, everyone will feel more comfortable with each other, and more connections will arise from this, leading to more drive to a passion filled health organization.
I will make this happen by first, advertising competition more. Competition is the main reason why I got closer to other members and I opened up more to them. Competition is a great way to share ideas to like-minded individuals and continue to grow personal skills with them. I'd also make this happen by creating more bonding activities. Small, fun, few minute bonding games is what also got me comfortable with others, and I would love to see only more connections between our members.

Why are you fit for the officer team?
Through previous experience in marching band, I have learned to manage my time efficiently and learned to take responsibility while being a Sophomore Section Leader. In doing this, I've gained proper skills that I'm able to apply anywhere I go like communication, teamwork, and responsibility, allowing me to balance schoolwork and follow through with tasks, deadlines, and meetings.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
VP, Competition Chair, Social Chair
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA to me means more than just a student organization. It's a place that fosters growth, explores passion, and is an opportunity to meet new people, gain new experiences and develop important leadership skills. Seeing everyone work their hardest within this organization inspires me to try my best, to grow alongside the people who've dedicated themselves to making a difference, both in their lives and others. Whether it's through volunteering or competition, HOSA is like a family that pushes you to be your best.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
Currently, I'm a part-time barista and I'm part of the UIL Academics Spelling Team. For me, having a to-do list helps me out and lets me know what needs to be done and when. With a job, school work and extracurriculars, I'm determined to keep HOSA on top of my to-do list by managing my time wisely and efficiently.
What skills or strengths do you bring to the officer team, and how do you plan to use them in your role?
One of the biggest strengths that I bring is my communication skills. Whether it's speaking clearly, actively listening, or making sure that everyone is on the same page, I believe that good communication is a strong foundation for a team as I've said previously. I'm also responsible and reliable, I know how to manage my time and follow through, both from volunteering and from working as a barista. Not only that, I feel that being a team player helps create a positive and productive environment to help every member feel involved in what they're doing.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
The HOSA team is already doing an amazing job at everything but I feel that miscommunication is very common among teams. With better communication, everyone can learn to trust each other, creating a strong foundation that the community can rely on. Open and consistent communication can help clarify goals, reduce confusion, and ensure that everyone is on the same page, making it easier to collaborate, share ideas, and solve problems.
What is your vision for the future of our HOSA chapter, and how do you plan to help achieve it?
My vision for the future of our HOSA chapter is to build a supportive and motivated community where every member feels inspired to pursue their passions, not just in the medical field. I want our chapter to not only help others grow individually but as a team who can leave a lasting impact wherever they go.

Why are you fit for the officer team?
I believe I am fit for the officer team for a variety of reasons!
First, is having prior leadership experience and opportunities. In one of my clubs, ResearchX, I served as the recruitment manager and was able to get the club to grow 3 times it's original size; I was able to work effectively and efficiently to help our club's goal , and I take pride in the results we achieved.
Secondly, is my passion for healthcare. Ever since I was a child I've always wanted to help others, but didn't learn about the healthcare pathway until 9th grade and immediately knew it was where I belonged. I get the opportunity to take one of my main passions and apply to a future job!
Finally, I possess a variety of skills that will be vital for an officer position in HOSA. Skills that I possess include, strong work ethic, team player, adaptability, and resilience. These skills are vital for any officer position, especially resilience, any officer of a club will face unexpected challenges (it's part of the job) and with my challenges of the past I've learned how to build resilience and not give up.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)

What does HOSA mean to you?
To me, HOSA is a place where I've truly been able to explore my interests in the healthcare field. It's helped me build skills I'll use in the future, especially as I work toward a career in pediatrics. Being part of HOSA has taught me a variety of lessons, ranging from working with others to taking initiative and getting work done efficiently, while also showing me the value of a strong work ethic and how far it can take you. HOSA isn't just about volunteering or competing - it's about learning along the way, which is something that has helped me grow into a more confident and capable person.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
As of right now, I am well balanced with others commitments. I have had the honor of being an officer in ResearchX and SPARK! These positions take time and commitment, but HOSA is (and always will be) one of my top priorities. With being an officer in other clubs it has prepared me to handle time efficiently, and if I am an officer next year I will take what I've learned and apply it to HOSA.
What skills or strengths do you bring to the officer team, and how do you plan to use them in your role?
Strengths that I bring include resilience, strong communication, authenticity, and vision with action. For resilience I have had to deal with unfair situations and learn how to continue forward, I will use this for HOSA to keep going even when it gets hard or tiring. For communication I have had to collaborate and be on top of my game when presenting to a club and to help send reminders or warnings for events and deadlines and will use this skill and experience to help guide HOSA by running meetings and sending posts lit on spond. For authenticity, I am honest and not afraid to keep learning or ask questions, this will be useful as an officer by building trust and making the officer team stronger. Lastly, for vision with action, I don't just have goals, I take steps to reach them; I will use this in HOSA to execute my duties as an officer if elected. All of these skills that I bring to the officer team are highly needed in any leadership position, and I hope to use it for HOSA next year.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
From prior experience, being connected with the people who make the club possible and effective communication between the officer team are necessities for success. By being connected we can make HOSA members always feel welcomed and accepted, and with strong communication the officers can execute their plans effectively. One idea i would like to implement is more hands-on opportunities, in the 2023 - 2024 year, (last year) HOSA provided the opportunity to find out what your blood type is, I found this to be very engaging and intriguing at the same time. If these were to be implemented it would without a doubt benefit the club in a variety of ways.
What is your vision for the future of our HOSA chapter, and how do you plan to help achieve it?
My vision for the future of our HOSA chapter is a fun and collaborative space for all interested in the medical pathway. I plan to achieve this by connecting club members to each other, we can do this by having ice breaker activities time to time to get people to meet others and interact with each other. Another way to achieve this is to have more hands on or collaborative challenges, such as a medical murder mystery and other types of team-based activities. As much experiences and opportunities HOSA has given me, I hope to give as much as I can back!!
What Health Science class are you taking in next year?
EMT/Clinicals
1. Social Chair 2. Competition Chair 3. VP
Why are you fit for the officer team?
I am a fit for the officer team because of my deep understanding of this organization’s goals, and my readiness to work towards achieving them. Year after year HOSA provides community, fun, experience, and so many opportunities to its members, but that is no small feat. I understand that as the largest non-honor society club at our school, being a part of the officer team is not just any role, but one with immense responsibilities. The officer team is the backbone of a student-led organization, so my preparedness to work hard and always prioritize HOSA will have a positive impact on the club and its members. I also bring with me skills that are vital to the role of an officer, such as leadership, communication, and organization. I am sure that as an officer, my skills, understanding, and ability to work hard fit into HOSA’s goals for the future, and help the club both run smoothly and grow.

What does HOSA mean to you?
To me, HOSA means commitment. In my three years as a HOSA member, I have seen that dedication to this club always pays off. Every meeting is a chance to meet others and laugh, but also to gain valuable information. Each community service event —whether it be at the Walk to End Alzeheimer’s or YMCA gift wrapping— never fails to leave me with an incredible feeling. Although being active in our community is a factor, this joy mostly comes from HOSA’s unique community. With over 200 members, the energy and readiness to learn and help that I feel from everyone is palpable. Additionally, competing in HOSA for three years has also taught me that staying committed and competing year after year is always valuable, and offers several opportunities to improve.
Since my freshman year, I have watched an already incredible organization grow even stronger as members see how fun and helpful being an active member is. For this reason, HOSA is my living proof that staying dedicated and committed to its cause will always reap incredible rewards, from friends and priceless memories, to irreplaceable skills both inside and outside of medicine.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
I am currently the vice-president of the club SPARK! at our school, and chair of our student council’s D.A.S.H (Drugs Alcohol Safety and Health) committee. I am aware of the huge commitment that being a HOSA officer is, and I am prepared to manage my time by always placing HOSA first, and not allowing other obligations to interfere with an officer position.
What skills or strengths do you bring to the officer team, and how do you plan to use them in your role?
One of my main strengths is multitasking. Over the years I have found that I excel in managing several different tasks at once without it affecting the quality of my work. I gained experience with this skill this summer as I volunteered at the Houston Health Museum, teaching visitors about kidney function, blood types, and running an experiment, all while talking to almost 200 people within a 3 hour time period during rush hours. My classes in junior year have also taught me how to work on several projects within the same time frame, and get them done in a timely manner.
I excel at being a leader. I was one of the two students from our school accepted into the Leadership High School program this year, where I attended monthly meetings and community service events focused on teaching and building leadership skills. From it, I have honed my abilities and learned that leadership is the ability to recognize the strongest qualities and skills within a group and utilize them to achieve a goal. I have the courage to take responsibility for setbacks and serve as a constant example, since being a leader is a full-time job, and something that can always be improved upon.
Lastly I bring with with me skills in communication. I view effective communication as the make-or-break of any team or organization. I am ready to collaborate with the officer team and members, and always foster an environment where everyone feels comfortable and able to express feelings and opinions. As a member of the officer team, I will utilize these skills daily to ensure that our club only grows stronger.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
The HOSA officer team has always been compromised of carefully selected, qualified, people, but I believe that there is always room for improvement. An idea that would help the new officer team be more cohesive is team-building activities that could foster understanding and friendship. A successful team is not only made through each member completing individual tasks, but through collaboration. By focusing on building a connection between officers before the next school year starts, we would be able to ensure that the 2025-2026 HOSA officer team is able to run like a well oiled machine, each member understanding their own and everyone else's strengths and abilities.
What is your vision for the future of our HOSA chapter, and how do you plan to help achieve it?
My vision for our HOSA chapter is growth. I aim to help our club expand in both effect on our community and school. I plan to achieve this in a number of ways. For one, I believe that creating a chapter/program that is focused on introducing York Junior High kids to HOSA from 7th or 8th grade would be valuable. I know that if not for knowing someone who had already taken classes the health science CTE course, I would not have taken principles of health science in my freshman year, and had all of this time to advance and prepare myself for working in healthcare. I think teaching 7th and 8th graders as well as freshman about how to plan for a future in health care will not only boost membership but create a club that also provides career information for our members. I also believe that many members are not fully aware of all of the opportunities that HOSA offers, and having a fun activity at the beginning or end of each meeting will help encourage attendance, leading to more participation in the club.
