Officer Candidates

Rhea Thomas - '25
What Health Science class are you taking in next year?
EMT or Anatomy & Physiology
Why are you fit for the officer team?
I’m fit to be an officer because I’ve always been a team player. Not only working with, but helping others is a large part of HOSA. I would bring confidence, energy, enthusiasm, and reasoning to the group, I frequently take the lead on projects when able, I am a spirited person, and I try to be the reality check when I need to in order to keep a level head through the group.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
1)Treasurer; 2) Social Chair; 3) Competition Chair
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA is an opportunity. Competition drives motivation for success, accredits awards to hard work, and fosters investment in the field of medicine. The club also helps to increase social engagement among students, allowing them to meet new like-minded individuals, and awards service hours for events that actually have an impact on the community, whereas other clubs may just use attendance. HOSA offers students opportunities to branch out, learn about medical professions, receive accolades, and give back.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
I’m currently involved in the following clubs: Research X, Model UN, Theatre, HOSA, SASA, Choir Student Council, Grizzly Ambassadors, Grizzly Mentors, GO Safe.
My senior year, I am planning to leave 2 of these, and possibly join the following IF I am able to without interference with HOSA, Student Council, and Model UN: Tri-M, Rho Kappa, NEHS, Science National Honor Society, DECA.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
Officers should be diligent, respectful, open minded, amiable and cooperative. I embody these qualities by verbally appreciating other’s work, being patient in difficult situations, and showing tenacity in my commitments.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
While I don’t feel the need to change anything about our officer team, I do feel that officers can help to break up groups inside the club, encouraging students to meet new people and foster community through HOSA.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
I have had 2 (non consecutive) years of being a treasurer, and will run my 3rd senior year in Student Council. I have also ran the junior class social media account, which engaged more than just the junior class; half of our following are current seniors, sophomores, and freshmen, and I am in charge of finding junior accounts to amass a following. I pledge to bring integrity, humour, respect, and patience to our GOHOSA chapter. I have competed for the two years I’ve been in HOSA. Lastly, I have taken Principles of Health Science and am currently enrolled in Health Science Theory, so I can give my honest insight into the process and information in each class. Also, my campaign slogan is “Pick me. Choose me. Vote me,” which is arguably a clever and effective motto in relation to a Medical Club if understood.

What Health Science class are you taking in next year?
Health Science Theory
Why are you fit for the officer team?
I believe I am a good fit for the officer team because I am experienced, committed, and passionate! As one of the Sophomore Interns this year, I have had the opportunity to gain experience working with our current officers, shadowing them and truly learning about the effort needed behind each role. Throughout the year, I have helped create and present slideshows at meetings, taken meeting notes, helped plan and run parties, helped at competition events like Area, Online Testing, etc, and asked officers questions about their responsibilities, all which are very important in being a successful officer. I also understand firsthand the commitment needed to be a part of the officer team, with many high-management events like Blood Drive, walks, etc. Not only do I have experience through my internship on actually working in the HOSA team itself, but also from other organizations such as CSHS and ResearchX, where I also hold officer positions, which have helped train me to effectively communicate at the forefront of an organization. I have demonstrated strong leadership and integrity throughout my experience in HOSA, and I plan to continue that in the future! I genuinely care about our organization and will try my hardest to ensure it is successful in the upcoming years. I am committed to excellence, constantly striving to improve and grow, and I am eager to bring my skills, experience, and enthusiasm to the officer team!
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
VP, Secretary, Competition Chair
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA means a sense of purpose and belonging to me. As a member, HOSA has given me a platform to develop my leadership skills, opportunities to make real and positive impacts on the community through volunteer work, and lessons to learn from the professionals and older students around me. Through HOSA, I've discovered my own potential and been reminded that I'm part of something bigger than my own dreams for the future, instead working together to create a better healthcare field. I want to be able to use my passion for HOSA as my drive to improve and ensure the success of the club in the future! My experiences, the friendships I have created, and the personal look I have gotten into the officer experience as an intern have made HOSA even more important in my life.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
My other obligations for next year include ResearchX, CSHS, and Student Council, but none of these clubs should have conflicting events or meetings with HOSA. In the case that there is a conflicting event, my priority will always be to participate and be involved in HOSA, especially as a hopeful member of the officer team next year.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
In my opinion, an effective officer is a well balanced blend of communication, compassion, leadership, and dedication. They adapt to obstacles, uphold their vision for the organization, encourage collaboration, and lead with confidence. Although I wish I could proudly say I embody every trait of an effective officer, it’s simply not possible. I know that I may not always be the strongest leader in the room, the most compassionate speaker, or the most driven individual, but I can promise that I will try my best to do my best regardless. It is impossible to be the perfect leader, but I will take time to listen to our members, empower them to reach their full potential, learn and grow from feedback, and keep transparency and integrity in the team. I will adapt to any obstacles thrown our way, and make sure we come out stronger than before! Let’s go HOSA <3
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
Going forward, there are many things I would hope to continue from this year, including holding officers accountable, having clear roles and responsibilities, scheduled and productive officer meetings, and each officer being reliable in getting their responsibilities taken care of well, all which helped manage the club smoothly this year!
I would additionally like to implement more shifts for the interns to work under officers, more collaboration even outside of officer meetings, and I would like to encourage each role to not feel so individual. I really struggled to give feedback this year because each officer’s work felt personally done by them, so it felt uncomfortable to criticize the final product that was worked so hard on instead of helping and giving feedback along the way. With balanced teamwork and productivity, I have no doubt the officer team will be successful!
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
I really, truly hold a passion for HOSA. It’s not hard to find an extremely qualified officer, but it’s hard to find someone who
cares. My experiences in HOSA have given it a strong foothold in my heart, and I can confidently say that I care enough about our incredible organization, the members, and this wonderful field enough to fully devote time and ensure this club works as well as it has the potential to. Although many of the other candidates for the officer team are amazing individuals, I can guarantee that I will use my personal experience in healthcare, leadership, and understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing HOSA to benefit the club in any way I can. My vision for HOSA is one of collaboration, encouragement, and I am eager to work with the officer team next year to make this vision a reality. By voting for me, HOSA members can trust that they will have a leader who is dedicated to their success and will work to advance the organization's mission.

What Health Science class are you taking in next year?
Anatomy and Physiology H
Why are you fit for the officer team?
I'm fit for the officer time because I have dedicated myself to HOSA ever since I was a freshman. I have completed almost every community service opportunity that has been provided and I competed for the first time this year, taking a large step forward in this organization. Furthermore, I wish to continue augmenting my progress in this organization by dedicating myself to an officer role.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
1. VP 2. Secretary 3. Treasurer
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA is an opportunity for me to give back to my community and is a supportive environment where I can make long lasting and beneficial connections.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
Besides HOSA, I also volunteer for SIRE, a nonprofit that utilizes equine therapy to aid people with disabilities as well as veterans. Starting this summer, I will be dedicating myself to environmental sustainability field work as a part of the Washington Youth Summit program.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
Well accomplished officers should be passionate about their work and strive to aid their communities. I embody these qualities because I am an overachiever and always put 110% into any job I commit to. I'm also very fervent about helping my community, which is why I dedicate a lot of my time to community service, which HOSA provides many opportunities for. My love for my community is an impetus for me to apply for an officer role, so I can gain even more opportunities to make a difference in my community.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
Last year I was enrolled in Principles of Health Science, which made it very easy to access meeting dates and HOSA reminders in general without relying on the Remind app. However, this year I wasn't able to apply for any health science classes and I have missed one or two meetings due to information not being posted in the Remind app. Due to this experience, I think the Remind app could be improved by being restructured in a way to make information more accessible. For example, designing and posting a monthly calendar for GOHS HOSA events could prove beneficial.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
HOSA members should vote for me because I will pay attention and respond to their feedback and I will always have their best interests in mind, as reflected through my personal work ethic.

What Health Science class are you taking in next year?
EMT and/or Anatomy & Physiology
Why are you fit for the officer team?
I believe I am a perfect fit for the officer team because of my genuine passion and care for others. Volunteering and helping those in need have always been big parts of my life, and serving as an officer would allow me to extend that care to our HOSA community. I genuinely enjoy connecting with people, listening to their concerns, and finding ways to offer my support. My commitment to making a positive difference, combined with my dedication to teamwork and collaboration makes me well-suited for this role. As an officer, I would strive to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where every member feels valued and supported as the previous officers have done for me.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
Social Chair, Secretary, Treasurer
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA represents more than just a club. It's a community that has become a significant part of my lifestyle. It's not just about attending meetings and events, rather it's about connecting with like-minded peers and supporting each other's growth. HOSA serves as a gateway to my future, offering opportunities as well as a place to explore and pursue my passions in healthcare. Through HOSA, I've discovered my interests, developed important skills, and found inspiration to make a meaningful difference within the healthcare field and beyond.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
As of 2024, I am involved in HOSA, NEHS (National English Honor Society), Rho Kappa (Social Studies Honor Society), VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event), and UIL Spelling and Vocabulary. In the coming 2024-2025 academic year, I intend to expand my involvement by joining the National Art Honor Society and the National Science Honor Society, and if I have room to spare, I plan to participate in Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society) and GOHS Interact.
I currently hold a part-time position at a childcare facility, and in pursuit of my long-term goal to graduate high school with an associate's degree, I am concurrently enrolled in college courses outside of Grand Oaks High School. I am proud to note that I am already halfway through, and this summer I plan on taking six of the remaining eight classes I need to complete my associates degree!
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
An effective officer needs to be organized, creative, social, willing to address challenging topics, and adaptable. I excel at staying organized, coming up with fresh ideas, connecting with others, speaking up when needed, and adjusting to changes. By embodying these traits, I aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment within HOSA.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
To boost our officer team’s impact, I propose officers find ways to help new members integrate more smoothly. When I was a freshman, joining HOSA felt intimidating as I didn’t know many others who shared my health-focused interests. However, I quickly connected with members who not only accompanied me on my journey but also provided essential support. Having someone to lean on was crucial to me and I’m forever grateful to those to lent a hand in my time of need.
Rather than solely hosting socials, we can pair up newcomers with experienced members to offer guidance. Additionally, we can plan enjoyable events during meetings where everyone can engage in topics they're passionate about, such as pop culture trivia quizzes or media specific collaboration events.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
HOSA members should vote for me because I bring a blend of dedication, creativity, and a commitment to inclusivity to the table. I am deeply invested in ensuring that every member feels valued and supported within HOSA’s community. I strive to create an environment where different perspectives are welcomed, and everyone has a voice. Difference shouldn’t just be accepted, it should be celebrated and embraced. As an officer, I promise to lead with integrity, empathy, and a drive to make HOSA a home for all of its members.
And remember to vote for Kathryn with a “K”---there is no other way! <3

Why are you fit for the officer team?
I believe that I would be a great fit for the officer team because I will bring dedicated, genuine, and productive qualities to the table. I'm genuinely passionate about healthcare, and I always strive for excellence, which aligns well with what this role requires. My involvement and experiences within HOSA so far has given me a solid understanding of its dynamics, and I'm confident in my ability to address challenges and be a help to others. Additionally , I am able to collaborate with my peers easily, connect with members, and represent our organization effectively. I'm very passionate about this club and that will make it easy for me to contribute my skills and dedication to the team's success and to HOSA in the future.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
Competition Chair, Social Chair, Treasurer
What does HOSA mean to you?
I see HOSA as the perfect opportunity for high school students to gain knowledge, socialize, and, most importantly, showcase their passion for healthcare. This club holds immense value for me because it has provided numerous experiences that have heightened my excitement for my future and dreams in the healthcare field. Competing, volunteering, and learning from experienced professionals have all been overall excellent opportunities. Thanks to HOSA, I've had several memorable moments plus many I could grow and learn from, and I'm grateful for that.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
I currently am a student athletic trainer. I also have associations outside of school that should not interfere with HOSA.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
I believe that collaborative, innovative, professional, respectful and open minded behavior are all very essential qualities for any effective officer. I am always trying to think outside of the box and cooperate with others. I am also a very encouraging person and am able to keep a positive outlook on things. I'll definitely come into this program with all these qualities and many more to be a successful officer.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
I think the Grand Oaks HOSA officer team has been wonderful. Some ideas that can be implemented are more interactive activities for the meetings and more events in general. Many students in HOSA don't know each other really well and more social events will change that leading to more members being more active in the club. Something else that could be included is more chances for members to give feedback and ideas of their own, such as places where HOSA can volunteer at and donate to!!
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
HOSA members should vote for me because I want to be a dependable and approachable officer for everyone. I know that sometimes approaching others can be challenging, even for myself, but I'm committed and passionate to be there for each and every member. Also with my experience in HOSA and competitions, I hope I can create an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions, knowing that I'll be prepared to provide advice and support. I'm ready to give it my all and best effort to any task or responsibility I take on. My goal is to be an effective addition to our organization, contributing positively to Grand Oaks HOSA’s growth and success.

If honored with the role of a HOSA officer, I want to assure you that HOSA will always be my top priority. I am committed to effective communication and collaboration with both our officer team and advisors to ensure that any potential conflicts are addressed with the utmost consideration for everyone's needs. My goal is to foster a supportive and inclusive environment where all members can thrive, regardless of their other commitments.

An effective officer demonstrates leadership, communication, teamwork, adaptability, and integrity to inspire and guide the organization towards success. I have served in leadership roles within HOSA, Drill Team, and National Spanish Honors Society, where I've led initiatives, coordinated events, and motivated my peers to achieve shared goals. Additionally, I am known for my clear and effective communication skills, whether it's conveying ideas during meetings, providing instructions to team members, or actively listening to feedback from others. What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
I am committed to working collaboratively with each member of our officer team to implement these initiatives and ensure that our chapter remains a vibrant community for all members!
Communication is the cornerstone of any successful organization. As an officer this year, I felt that we needed to put open communication to use! At times, we experienced gaps in both idea sharing and clear communication regarding task assignments. So, in order to improve this quality, I will prioritize open and transparent communication channels within our officer team from the very beginning! From my experience as an officer this year, no one person can do it all, which is why it's essential to distribute responsibilities evenly among our officer team. Through decision making processes, we will identify each member's strengths, interests, and availability to distribute tasks effectively. By fostering a culture of teamwork and mutual support, we can ensure that no one officer feels overwhelmed, and that together, we can achieve our goals more efficiently and effectively. As an officer, I will lead by example, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving and project management. I will encourage all officers to take initiative in identifying areas for improvement, proposing innovative solutions, and leading by example in their respective roles. Overall, by creating an environment where every voice is valued and every idea is considered, we can utilize the collective talents and passions of our team to propel HOSA forward.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
As a dedicated member of our organization, I am deeply committed to advancing the goals and mission of HOSA, and I believe that with your support, we can achieve great things together! Here are a few reasons why I believe I am the right candidate to represent you:
With three years of experience in HOSA, and two years of officer/intern experience, I have a deep understanding of our organization's dynamics and the needs of our members. I have a clear vision for the future of HOSA, one that involves empowering HOSA members to become effective leaders in healthcare by offering leadership training, competition workshops, and opportunities for active involvement in the organization. I am committed to implementing initiatives that will benefit all members and help us reach new heights. My passion for healthcare and for the mission of HOSA runs deep. I am dedicated to promoting career opportunities in the health industry and supporting our members in achieving their goals. I promise to be accessible and responsive to your needs and concerns. Your voices matter, and I am committed to listening to your feedback and working together to make positive changes within our organization. I believe in upholding the values of HOSA, including professionalism, leadership, and service. You can trust me to represent our organization with integrity and to always act in the best interests of our members. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to run for this officer position, and I promise, if elected, I will work tirelessly on behalf of our organization and its members. Together, we can continue to make HOSA a vibrant and impactful community for future healthcare professionals!

Why are you fit for the officer team?
I am fit for the officer team as I possess qualities of a strong work ethic, efficient communication and problem-solving skills, along with great ambition. I have been a part of HOSA for two years and have immersed myself in the range of opportunities and events that HOSA provides. My freshman year, I served as the Freshman Intern and fulfilled my role by assisting the other officers in terms of organizing social events, Mock and Area competitions, as well as community service opportunities- blood drives, disease awareness walks, and food drives. This position allowed me to work closely alongside the officer team and advisors. To expand further, as a member this year, I heavily focused and engaged in competition. My competition event this year included working with a team, advancing my knowledge and skill of collectively working with others to reach large objectives. Furthermore, I was also able to establish my club at Grand Oaks (GOHSMSA) this year, which enhanced my understanding of obtaining a role as a leader along with holding a sense of authority and responsibility.

What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA is an organization that represents an outlet for community and opportunity. HOSA has fostered people with volunteer and competition opportunities, giving them more knowledge and experience in the world of philanthropy. HOSA has given me along with many other members the ability to grow individually through all the windows of opportunities HOSA provides as an establishment. In addition, HOSA has enabled me to break out of my shell, meet and connect with new people, and evolve my social and communication skills. All things considered, being an officer will allow me to transfer my incredible experience with HOSA to new and incoming HOSA members.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
My other obligations, aside from HOSA, include GOHSMSA, Grand Oaks Interact Club, as well as volunteering at Memorial Hermann Hospital on Fridays from 4-7. As my obligations outside of HOSA are either once a week on a delegated day or once a month, there will be no interference with the events and meetings that HOSA arranges.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
In my opinion, qualities that are essential for an effective officer would have to be a sense of responsibility, leadership, communication, and proactiveness. These qualities are vital for a productive officer as the role includes having to take initiative, address concerns head-on and efficiently, and communicate the planning of socials, competition events, and community service opportunities. I embody these qualities through my work of establishing my club involved with taking action to celebrate diversity, institute community, and work towards helping people around my city. Furthermore, I won the Rotary Student of the Year Award which encompasses being a student representative, being active in my community, and demonstrating acts of “service above self”.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
Throughout my time with HOSA, HOSA has proven to be an incredible organization that caters to people’s passion for the world of medicine and through that forms a community. However, there is always room for improvement to help keep HOSA advancing and progressing. An idea that could be implemented into the officer team involves a team bonding activity such as a team trivia night to promote cohesion and create a united front which in return helps make events more organized and established. Another idea that could be implemented within the club includes hosting medical informational meetings as well as interactive workshops. Such events could incorporate giving knowledge about clinical skills and how to use various medical tools. This idea could be instrumental in enriching our members’ healthcare education and experience. This will prove to be beneficial for students who do not have the ability to take a health science course. Regardless of access to course material, this idea creates an environment to continue comprehension of medicine.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
As I have been in HOSA for two years, I have been heavily involved in the club as I worked as an intern my Freshman year, competed and advanced in competition, attended socials, and participated in community service opportunities. I have perspectives on being both a member and a component of the officer team. With this experience and enlarged outlook, I can use it to make a positive and significant impact on our community. Moreover, by jump-starting my club at Grand Oaks, I understand the notable role of responsibility, dedication, and ambition that comes with being an officer. Starting my club and engaging in group activities, community service, and competition events, has facilitated evolving my communication and public speaking skills. That said, I can serve as a large and impactful voice for our HOSA members. I treasure my community, evidently shown through my Rotary award, community involvement, and volunteering at Memorial Hermann Hospital. To extend further, I am very passionate about the medical field which caters to my love for HOSA. This organization has opened numerous doors for me to grow, expand my knowledge of medicine, and has granted me the ability to have a substantial impact on my community. By voting for me, I will work persistently to ensure that people are heard, to encourage optimism, and to offer an extraordinary experience within HOSA!

Why are you fit for the officer team?
As a dedicated member of HOSA, I have shown my passion for healthcare and leadership abilities by taking initiative over my high school career in HOSA. I've shown my ability to adapt and change to my surroundings to further myself in my pursuits, as I have listened to direction given by both peers and teachers. I also have a skill to work well with other team members to get the job done efficiently.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
President, Competition Chair, and Social Chair
What does HOSA mean to you?
To me, HOSA isn't just a club that we can join, it's a community for like minded people. It's a place where students all looking for a profession in the health care industry can come together and have fun, serve, and compete in one section. HOSA teaches me how to lead, serve, and think selflessly, focusing my goals on things that will affect my life for the better. HOSA is a place that we can all come together and be one family of health care professionals at GO.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
Besides HOSA, I do choir, both the varsity mens choir and the mixed chamber choir. I run two events for track here at GO, and next year will be my third year competing for the team. I work for a professional grade turf company and I do packing, boxing, and inventory at one of their warehouses.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
In my opinion, some of the most essential qualities for an effective officer are leadership, empathy, communication, and adaptability. An officer has to be able to give an effective speech or lesson. I possess this quality especially in groups, as I have held a leadership role in my church in my age for 4 years, and I am currently on a youth board, in charge of planning and organizing events for all youth in the district. Empathy is a major factor, as it allows the officer to connect with the other members of both HOSA and the other officers. Growing up in a family of girls, I have learned to empathize with others to be able to help them feel included. Communication is key for any position, as it allows everyone around you to know ahead of time what's happening and keeps everyone in the loop. I embody these qualities because I believe that if anything is going to work efficiently, both people communicating must know what is happening, and that they stick to the schedule, which leads me to the next quality, adaptability. Since we are all humans, we all mess up and something goes wrong, which is why officers need to be adaptive. I embody this quality because I have had my fair share of having to deal with problems, and my ability to change and make it flow has come in handy.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
I haven't really seen any problems in the officer team, as it all flows really well. All I would suggest is to have a bit more hype during the meetings, and at least have a smile on your face while presenting, as it can make a major difference in the way people perceive the team when they are leading the meetings.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
HOSA members should vote for me because I will bring a great energy to HOSA, and keep the amazing environment that we already have. I will be able to lead in a way that helps everyone be successful and keep everything flowing smoothly. I'll help everyone exceed in whatever their goal is, and keep the grizzly spirit wherever I go. My passion for health care will inspire other members to get involved with HOSA as well.

Why are you fit for the officer team?
I'm a team player and ready to work with any new idea that is provided. I'm always willing to try anything and work toward a united goal as we go through high school. I find all members of HOSA amazing and love working with every single one. I want to be there for any questions and willing to always have a conversation and help plan for the team for new ideas, plans, and inspiration. I'm a hard working person and want to keep busy so I'm willing to take any work that is needed and complete it in a meaningful time frame so that we can work smoothly though the club and make sure everyone is informed and ready for any trials and tribulations that may come up.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
Secretary, Treasurer, and Social Chair.
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA was one of the first clubs I ever joined and I was already planning to join it when I got to high school, and it helped me meet so many people with so many similar but unique passions that all have their own interesting facts and goals. For me it's a place for people with similar passions can meet and make the community better as a team and build even more friendships while working together. I have meet some of my personal friends though HOSA which gave me more reason to appreciate HOSA as both a social and important extracurricular.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
I'm not in many clubs as to keep my work load shorter and be more flexible for any changes. I am in Research X, Spanish National Honor Society, STUCO, and I have college classes that I take after school too. I'm ready to make any augments as necessary if needed.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
In my opinion someone who is an effective officer is someone who can work calm and efficient under pressure and not isolated from a team. Also taking criticism when needed and keeping an open mind for any questions, concerns, and new ideas people may present. I can't speak for myself but I can say I want to embody every single one of these traits and strive for that everyday and want to improve my self by taking new opportunities like this to make myself into a better person and gain qualities that I want to see in myself as I learn more about others and myself. I have learned these qualities from roles I have run and the sports I have been involved in teaching me important lessons which is mainly discipline.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
I want to take initiative with communications, foster fluent teamwork, and opportunities for everyone and anyone making sure everyone is having fun and learning from their experiences from HOSA and Grand Oaks Highschool. While I cannot promise specific outcomes, I am wanting an enhanced communication with other clubs that share similar ideals and plans. I would love to see communications and fun events between clubs and the community. Something that I would love to be expanded on is the idea of guest speakers of different fields as when we had this before. It is able to inspire others and even inspired me, and I think it's a wonderful way for professionals to talk passionately about their careers to individuals like us with similar ideals and plans for their future. As a team of collective members, I am confident we can do great things. Everyone has their own unique talents, and I want everyone to feel like they are involved in their own way.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
I know people may not know me and I understand that, but I promise to make HOSA a fun club for anyone who wants to learn about different medical fields and progress in their own ideals throughout their future. I'm a person open to talking to anyone if they need anything or have any questions throughout our year or if you just need to talk to someone. I'm glad to have this opportunity to become a better person and in return I want everyone to find out more about themselves as they are growing with this club and as we learn more together. I'm familiar with leadership positions, but I'm trying to gain more experience and I can't do that without running for a role and giving my full effort into trying to run, and in the process learning more about what I can do and go beyond my own potential and that's exactly what I want for everyone else. I have similar experience with roles like this before and I'm confident I'm ready to do it again. I want you to trust me with your vote and I want you to feel like your making the best option so please if I made you feel like that please consider voting for me. Thank you for reading.

Why are you fit for the officer team?
I believe I am well-suited for an officer position on the team due to my qualities such as leadership, interpersonal communication, strong collaboration skills, and unwavering dedication. Throughout my involvement in HOSA, which includes two years of active participation in competition, I've felt a genuine passion for our club and have consistently strived to excel and I am always eager to learn and grow. If elected, I am committed to utilizing these qualities and the knowledge I've acquired to serve efficiently and effectively. Additionally, my connections within HOSA have provided me with an in-depth understanding of the needs and goals of our members. I've also had the privilege of building strong relationships with many individuals, and it's through these connections that I've truly learned the importance of advocating for and representing their needs on the officer team. Given the opportunity, I would eagerly embrace a leadership position on the officer team and contribute meaningfully to the growth and success of our club.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
1. Secretary, 2. Social Chair, 3. Competition Chair
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA has been an amazing experience for me. I've been involved since my Freshman year, and even though I'm currently a Sophomore, these two years have been incredibly impactful. It's more than just attending meetings, logging hours, or socializing at parties; it's about creating unforgettable memories, making new friendships, and seizing opportunities that are unique to HOSA. It's a journey filled with growth, learning, and the chance to make a real difference in the lives of others. I hope that future members of HOSA will have the chance to share the same experience that I've had.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
Apart from my commitment to HOSA, I also have a strong involvement in ResearchX and Biotech. I have made sure that these extracurricular pursuits do not interfere with my HOSA commitments, which come first in my priorities. In the future academic year, I intend to carefully schedule to expand my involvement by competing in Science UIL competitions and joining prestigious organizations like the National Science Honors Society.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
The essential qualities for effective officers—such as leadership, communication, dedication, and the ability to learn from mistakes—go beyond just skills; they're about building connections and supporting each other within the team. I've personally experienced these traits through my own journey in leadership, the bonds I've formed with friends, my unwavering commitment, and my willingness to grow from my experiences. As someone who will serve as an officer in ResearchX, I'm passionate about bringing that same level of dedication and leadership to HOSA. My strong communication skills have been shaped by the encouragement of my friends, and my active involvement in HOSA events reflects my dedication. Despite this year's HOSA competition not leading to advancing to state, I've used it as an opportunity to reflect and learn, determined to come back stronger. Having made it to state during my freshman year, I've gained valuable insights from this experience that I'll carry forward into the future. I am eager to apply these qualities and lessons and continue striving for excellence in all aspects of my involvement with HOSA.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
Looking back, I’m really impressed with how well the officer team performed this year and feel like there isn’t much to improve upon; they truly enhanced our HOSA chapter. For next year, I am eager to build on the success of this year's initiatives. I particularly appreciated the efficiency of our meetings, which were well-organized and effectively communicated key information while allowing time for questions. I also greatly enjoyed the hands-on labs and guest speakers, especially the memorable blood type lab. To build on this success, I propose organizing a series of interactive medical workshops that cover a range of topics, from suturing techniques to first aid skills, providing practical knowledge and skills that are invaluable in the healthcare field. Additionally, this year's parties, like the haunted house, were a huge hit, and I hope the next Social Chair will continue to organize similarly engaging social events. I’m hopeful and excited that next year’s team will maintain this great work and continue the success we’ve seen.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
I believe HOSA members should consider voting for me for several reasons. As discussed earlier, I possess qualities that align well with an officer position, such as effective interpersonal communication and leadership skills. Additionally, I have a deep passion for HOSA, rooted in the meaningful connections and experiences I've had within the organization. My involvement in various HOSA activities, including volunteering and competitions, has provided me with valuable insights and skills that I believe can contribute positively to our community. Outside of HOSA, I am also thrilled to share that I have been elected to serve as an officer for ResearchX next year. This experience, although not yet in a leadership capacity, has given me valuable exposure to teamwork and organizational dynamics, further enhancing my readiness to serve in a leadership role for HOSA. I am committed to fostering a supportive environment within HOSA, where every member feels valued and supported. If given the opportunity to serve as an officer, I am dedicated to guiding HOSA towards a successful and fulfilling year ahead.

What Health Science class are you taking in next year?
Health Science Theory
Why are you fit for the officer team?
Being a Sophomore Intern for the past year has allowed me to understand the ins and outs of holding a leadership position in HOSA. I worked under all 6 positions and gained important insights into how each position operates and their responsibilities. I've accumulated and displayed important work ethic, leadership, and responsibility skills. I learned how crucial schedule availability is and attended almost all service events, all meetings, accompanied our team to Area competitions, helped run our mock competition/blood drives, and gladly organized multiple parties and social media presence with our current Social Chair.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
Social Chair, Treasurer, Secretary
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA is a close-knit community of students who have a passion for health and the medical field. It empowers students to meet others with similar interests and develop meaningful connections. I've seen firsthand the positive interactions our members have with each other and the friendships that our organization fosters. HOSA has given me a platform to practice my leadership and communication skills with people. I've made many bonds through HOSA and had the opportunity to meet numerous different people.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
I've been able to attend nearly all service events and all meetings because my only extracurricular was being a Sophomore Intern. As of right now, the only extracurricular I have coming up next year besides HOSA is Spanish NHS. Besides that, I don't have much that takes up space on my calendar, so I can dedicate the majority of my time to HOSA.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
A mix of qualities, too many to list, is essential to be an officer. However, I've seen, through being a Sophomore Intern, that our current officer team has succeeded this year through accountability, communication, and time management. I have learned through this year that to be successful, you have to be willing to take accountability for your shortcomings. Seeing my team take accountability has shaped me into being responsible and decreased the number of negative events that demand accountability. I've also learned that communication is the key when in a leadership position. Whether I'm in a team meeting or sitting in my kitchen, I always communicate my ideas and questions. By good communication, I'm on top of anything pending and involving HOSA. Our team met all deadlines, brought our donations to centers, attended service events, organized blood drives, and more, all right on time, because we practiced time management. By managing my time, HOSA was able to become a priority.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
I've observed the team the past year, and there is more to continue than to improve. We were on top of all events and handled competition season smoothly. The team was great with communication, working together, and involving the interns. The only thing I would say that needs to be improved is not delegating one large task to a specific position. Even though our positions have specific titles, a bulk of work is more productive when split between the team. We should continue being friendly and outgoing as an officer team and welcome challenges together.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
I already have prior experience with the team and can transition smoothly into an officer position thanks to shadowing all 6 positions throughout the year. I know and will fulfill the responsibilities and expectations of an officer, especially of the three I listed as my first choices. I have the work ethic and traits to spearhead events and decisions and stay on top of a fast-paced environment. A free schedule allows me to invest most of my time in HOSA and interact with the community and members. I listen to our members and always take the opinions/wants of our chapter into account.

Why are you fit for the officer team?
I have been a HOSA member for three years. I have lettered in HOSA and have taken part in 26+ hours of community service. HOSA has allowed me to work closely with my community by being awarded the opportunity to give back. Being part of this club has impacted my life in such a positive way. I believe I am the perfect fit to be an officer because I am dedicated and willing to go the extra mile. I also always strive for positivity and eager to continue elevating our HOSA chapter in any way possible.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
Secretary, VP, and Competition Chair
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA to me is way more than just Health Occupations Students of America. HOSA is a guide to future health care providers, a well rounded community, and most importantly HOSA is a family. HOSA has provided me with many opportunities to learn and grow from. The club has also shaped my passion for the medical field. HOSA has helped me establish great relationships with peers that support our likeness for health services. HOSA has helped develop and expose my interest for the health care community in many ways.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
Some of the obligations I have taken part in and out of the school. Beside HOSA, I am in National Honor society, Science National Honor Society, Orchestra, Manager, and play Volleyball. None of these obligations interfere with HOSA and my devotion for the club.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
In my opinion the most important qualities of an officer include leadership experience and devotion. I represent these qualities in many ways. With leadership I am a manager of my job, and have been for the past three years. As manager I have to train, motivate, and discipline over 25 lifeguards on a week to week basis. I am also a captain of my Volleyball team. As a captain I have to be chosen from both coaches and peers. As far as devotion goes I believe I have proven my true devotion to HOSA through dedicated hours and time spent with the community. This is proven by my +26 hours in community service, lettering in HOSA, and being present for every meeting that has been held for the past 3 years.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
Some improvements that can be implemented into the officer team should be setting up guest speakers in the medical field who are willing to discuss their career paths and the obstacles they conquered to get where they are today. I believe this will help not only the officers, but the members of the organization by sharing experiences they might be going through or will in their future. I also feel that it will help establish if members are really wanting to go into the healthcare community and show the dedication it takes to do so.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
Since I have been in HOSA for three years, I have taken part in socials, given back to my community, competed, and lettered in HOSA. HOSA members should vote for me because I have a proven track record of leadership, dedication, and devotion to the club. I am passionate about the medical field and want to implement my same passion towards others as a highly viewed leadership position. Helping make the path for the next generation of members going into Grand Oaks HOSA.

Why are you fit for the officer team?
I house a variety of qualities that make me fit for the HOSA officer team. For starters, I have an open-mind, I work well in group settings, I’m social, I take well to leadership roles and I’m always looking to maximize the opportunities granted towards me. I have been in HOSA for two years, one of which I competed in area and achieved first place in the Mental Health Promotion category. I have participated in multiple community activities within the HOSA program such as, making Valentine’s cards for the elderly, making motivational signs for Awareness walks, donating toys, and many more. Despite not having experienced being apart of the HOSA team this year, I am apart of a leadership role as a GO TOTS volunteer at Grand Oaks Church in which I hold high responsibility over my class, engage in tasks in an upbeat and above average way, and I am able to discuss activities and issues with my fellow Volunteering colleagues. I believe this has equip me to move forward and take other leadership positions in other aspects of my community. I will be a strong asset to the team and I aim to assimilate and improve the program alongside fellow officers in the coming year.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
1. VP 2. Competiton Chair 3. Secretary
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA is a program that provides me with the ability to surround myself with likeminded individuals and encourage a passion towards the medical field. Being welcomed into HOSA has allowed me to participate in various community service events and competition, which I would’ve been unable to otherwise. I’ve met wonderful friends and colleagues in HOSA who have encouraged me to be the best version of myself and have inspired me to do more, such as running for office, in order to help others and contribute to the efforts that this organization provides. Being a member of HOSA is unlike any other club and is truly a unique experience that I can’t imagine not being apart of. I hope to be a factor for the upcoming school year to prompt incoming members to collaborate and take part in the multitude of paths that HOSA offers.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
National English Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Ap Ambassadors, Creative Writing and Athletic Trainer. My participation in these clubs will not interfere with my role in HOSA.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
There are a variety of qualities that exemplify what it means to be a HOSA leader such as, public speaking skills, the ability to communicate well with others, a desire to serve the community, and a sense of responsibility. In addition to a drive for excellence and the pursuit for improvement. These attributes are essential in leading others in a positive direction while maintaining a relationship with members of the organization. Without these skills it’s impossible to invoke a proactive change and bring forth success. I know that I have each of these qualities if not more. I’ve taken the initiative in my multiple times working Physical Day as a Student Athletic Trainer to unify my colleagues and make the environment affirmative and productive. I’ve also drove forth my skill in serving others through my social media campaign for my HOSA project for the 2023-2024 school year. Alongside my team member Sethumi, I was able to raise funds to donate to a local charity and encourage my classmates to participate in community activities in order to raise awareness. I’m also well versed in communication, with my ability to share information with others in a lighthearted and passionate way.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
HOSA is a place where students come to collaborate and learn from others. I think the program however is missing that open and welcome environment that it should embody. My goal is to work with the officer team in order to ensure that there is a transparent and safe place where students can come to ask questions and take interest in competition and organized events. Through a leadership role I would aim to provide a clear resource that everyone can use in order to gain a deeper knowledge on what they’re hoping to do. Previously there was an after meeting discussion with Medical Professionals on the history of blood donation, one that I think was very interesting. I hope to make these a regular thing, encouraging a fostering of broader insight within the community in an interactive and creative way, which will bring members together and expand knowledge. The passion to make HOSA a welcome and helpful resource for all is one that will benefit each student and administrator, and is something that I hope to introduce during my term.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
If you’re looking for someone to represent your wants and needs, someone who is willing to go above and beyond to meet your demands and someone who is willing to help you and ensure you achieve every great thing offered to you, then you should vote for me! I uphold the power to make a difference and promote an inclusive HOSA culture, one that will prove my intentions and the legitimacy of my claims. Being a member of such a large organization can often mean your voice is lost in the process, however this does not have to be the case any longer. With your support we can move forward on a path of growth in a new era. The future is bright, and I hope I am there to lead you during it.

What Health Science class are you taking in next year?
Pharmacy Technician- Clinicals
Why are you fit for the officer team?
I believe I am fit for the officer team because I am organized and hard working. I can balance various challenging courses while maintaining quality grades. In my classes I can work and understand material at fast paces. In the officer team I would fit because I would be able to ensure everything is done orderly and correctly. This would allow the officer team to stay efficient and up to speed.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA means leadership, community, and service. This organization gives students and aspiring medical professionals the ability to step up and take the opportunity to learn and explore careers. Through this students are able to then find their path among others in similar areas as well as make new friends along the way. Within this organization young adults are also able to give back to others through volunteer work and educating kids on the medical field and all of the possibilities within it.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
Outside of schoolwork and school activities, I have no other obligations
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
In an officer, qualities such as leadership, honesty, and patience are essential. I, personally, am able to embody such qualities through academics and taking charge within my work as well as helping guide others. In other ways I show them by ensuring all that I do is honorable and mannerly. Lastly, I show these qualities through taking time with others and allowing myself to take needed time for work or understanding various subjects.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
Within the officer team I believe there are minimal changes that need to be made. However, I also believe that there could be more initiative with reaching out to students inside and outside the organization. I believe there could be a change where officers reach out and talk to students more about the organization to spread word about HOSA and what we can offer.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
I believe HOSA members should vote for me because I am willing to dedicate myself to the organization and because I truly want to be a part of this team and lead others

Why are you fit for the officer team?
I'd be an excellent addition to the officer team for several reasons. Firstly, my communication skills are top-notch. I can effectively convey ideas, mediate discussions, and ensure everyone's voices are heard. Secondly, I have a knack for problem-solving. When challenges arise, I'm adept at finding creative solutions that benefit the team as a whole. Thirdly, I'm highly organized and detail-oriented, which means I can keep all projects in line. Lastly, I'm committed to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture, where everyone feels valued and motivated to contribute their best. Overall, I believe my combination of skills and attributes make me a strong fit for the officer team.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
Social Chair, Treasurer, Secretary
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA holds significant meaning to me because it has given me a place where I can connect with my peers over many shared interests. When it comes to the social department, HOSA definitely triumphs over other organizations, due to its phenomenal ability to consistently provide environments that promote closeness among students.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
I'm also in Spanish Honors Society(running for Social Media Manager), Student Council(running for Junior Class President), and I hold an intern position at Grizzlies For Hope.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
Effective communication and Adaptability are some qualities I feel are necessary for an officer to be a part of a functional team. Effective officers need to communicate clearly and empathetically with team members, ensuring that everyone understands their roles, responsibilities, and goals. Officers should ensure that everyone feels heard and is considered when making overseeing decisions. I excel in communication, actively listening to others' perspectives and articulating ideas in a way that fosters understanding and collaboration. In a working environment, officers must be adaptable and flexible to navigate changing circumstances and unexpected challenges. I embrace change with resilience and a willingness to learn, adjusting strategies and approaches as needed to achieve our goals as a person and as a whole.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
I believe that even though HOSA is a large club, there is still a lack of "true closeness" among the members. I think HOSA would benefit from activities solely focused on getting to know each other more. In order to make an impact on others, we should first strive to understand ourselves and those around us.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
HOSA members should vote for me because they can count on me to be reliable, dedicated, and accountable in fulfilling my responsibilities as an officer. I will invest my time, energy, and passion into supporting our organization and ensuring that we achieve our collective goals. HOSA members should vote for me because I have the passion, experience, and vision to lead our organization effectively and make a positive impact on our members and the healthcare community as a whole.

What Health Science class are you taking in next year?
Health Science Theory
Why are you fit for the officer team?
I believe I am fit for the officer team because of my commitment and dedication to HOSA and my ability to communicate and work well with others. Firstly, I have been a HOSA member for 2 years now (and plan to continue for the remainder of my high school career) , and I’ve participated in competition for both years. I’ve been passionate about the field of healthcare since a very young age, and HOSA has allowed me to enhance my knowledge and cultivate my interests. Now, I want to be able to give back and build an even stronger GOHOSA community. Furthermore, I work well in groups where specific tasks are delegated to specific individuals but collaboration is encouraged. I do well with receiving criticism and improving upon it as well as giving constructive criticism and helping others do the same. Additionally, I believe I am able to adapt well, communicate, and empathize with others - allowing me to form solid relationships with fellow group members and work at a maximized efficiency!
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
VP, Treasurer, Secretary
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA has truly made its impact on my personal growth, knowledge, and passion for healthcare; I have seen firsthand how this organization fosters collaboration, leadership, motivation, dedication, and so much more. From my perspective, I see HOSA as a community in which anyone can grow their passions, develop as leaders, and engage in opportunities to advance their futures. It’s an organization that has taught me that although my individual contributions do matter, our collective efforts to better our community will bring true, positive change to not only the healthcare field, but to our friends, families, and even strangers! All in all, HOSA, to me, is a representation of all the wonderful things that make up the health community!
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
I am currently involved in Model UN, ResearchX, Student Council, and Debate. Next school year, I intend to join SNHS and Grand Oaks Interact, however, HOSA will continue to remain my top priority; my participation in HOSA should not be affected by my involvement in these other extracurriculars.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
Qualities such as leadership, integrity, communication, and problem-solving are traits that I see as essential for an effective officer. As an officer, I will strive to exemplify these such qualities at all times. By use of clear and resilient leadership, I will be able to work towards an established goal while simultaneously creating a positive, persistent environment for my peers. In addition, I always aim to stay true to the truth, something I intend to bring with me as an officer. I also do well with transparency and communication with those around me, and I fully plan to create strong relationships with my fellow officers (if elected) in order to foster enhanced communication. Lastly, problem-solving is a characteristic I believe truly sets leaders apart, as being able to think critically and come up with quality solutions is important to the success and sustainability of a club, its officers, and its members. This last quality is something that I believe I can bring to the GOHOSA officer team, as I do well thinking of and executing plans in an organized and effective fashion!
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
Although I found our officer team this year to be amazing, I do believe that we can implement certain things to increase effectiveness including: more efficient communication systems, ways for HOSA members to provide feedback, and more interaction between officers and club members. As someone who was not in a health science class, I did find it slightly difficult to stay updated on meetings and general HOSA announcements despite being in the Remind and following GOHOSA social media accounts. By staying on top of communication systems, I believe we can increase club engagement and participation. Additionally, I believe we should consider the input of our members when deciding how to go about running the club. Giving our members access to feedback forms throughout the year, will ensure that our officers will be held accountable and given specific constructive criticism to help the club run more smoothly. Lastly, I would love to see our officer team branch out and interact with new members to create a comfortable environment where guidance and help can easily be asked for!
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
HOSA members should vote for me because I will bring true passion and enthusiasm to our club and community! I have participated greatly in this club, from socials to volunteering opportunities to competition and more! I am committed to creating an inclusive environment where all members can pursue their interests and be unafraid to explore. With my problem-solving skills and proactive approach, I pledge to give my unflagging effort to ensure GOHOSA’s smooth running. Moreover, I am always open to new ideas as well as criticism and will try to make sure every member’s voice is heard and valued. By voting for me, HOSA members can trust that my hard work will go towards the expansion of a high-spirited club with tons of new opportunities for learning, growing, and making a real difference in our community!

Why are you fit for the officer team?
I am a fit for the officer team because I excel at communicating effectively, prioritizing the more urgent tasks, and compromising with teammates to reach a common goal. I find that while I have all of these qualities that are needed for an officer, I am also a fit because I recognize my flaws. Like every human, I have faults, and I own up to them. Because I am not ashamed to admit when I am wrong or if there is an area I need to improve, I am able to get a lot done. I think that when working on a team, this is an extremely important skill to have, and I know that it will be beneficial as an officer.
What are your top 3 choices for Officer Positions? (President, VP, Competition Chair, Treasurer, Social Chair, Secretary)
1. Secretary 2.Treasurer 3. Social Chair
What does HOSA mean to you?
HOSA means much more to me than just a club. There are not many opportunities so readily available to students who want to later pursue medicine as those provided in HOSA. This organization has provided me with multiple ways that I can better myself for the future. The competitions have given me a look at the healthcare field, and the club itself has given me experience. But overall, It has given me irreplaceable memories and friends, and a strong sense of community with people who I know share common interests and goals as me, and for that, I will forever be grateful to HOSA for.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
Student Council, Mu Alpha Theta, Philosophy club
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
In my opinion, an effective officer must be someone who can collaborate well with others, has good decision making skills. I have these abilities due to my previous experiences in HOSA and other organizations.
In student council I was the committee chair for DASH, so I had to work with the committee members to find ways to help our school, then work with the officers and advisor to try to implement them. This gave me experience in working with others and an officer team, as well as compromising when there was a difference in opinion.
In addition, for my competition in HOSA this year, I did Job Seeking Skills, in which I had to do a 5-minute mock interview for an internship at area competition. Since I did not know the questions in advance, I had to be ready to think on my feet, with a time limit, and in a competitive and nervous environment. Both competing and preparing for the competition has taught me to think quickly and make important decisions at a moment's notice.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
I feel that it could be beneficial for HOSA if the officer team gave more opportunities to reach out to current and future HOSA members. For example, taking the opinions of members of student council of changes they would like to see in the future, or possible projects that they would like to see started. This could help to better everyone's experiences in HOSA, and possibly encourage others to join.
In my experience, I have found that many people in our school are not aware of HOSA or its goals and opportunities it provides. I believe that the officer team could try to reach out more, since there are many who could contribute much to this organization, but are either unaware of it, or are unaware of all of the benefits it provides.
In addition, the officer team could try to reach out to junior high students so that when they arrive at Grand Oaks, they have HOSA in mind. A possible way to do this would be for the officer team to visit York Junior High one day, and talk to the students there about HOSA, and options for careers in the medical field.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
HOSA members should vote me because I have been committed to HOSA for the past two years and will genuinely do my best to make a change. I have participated in multiple community service options over the past two years, and have competed at area twice --health education and job seeking skills. Over this time I have come to love this organization, but have also found things that I would love to improve. I think that no person or thing could ever be truly perfect, and I know that if I am elected, I will do everything in my power to make HOSA a better and happier space for its members. My goal is to make sure that everyone is able to find just as much community and comfort in from HOSA as I have, and hopefully more. In addition, I am a hard-working, dedicated, and outgoing person, and will actively make an effort to help our officer team and members. Although I can not promise much now, I can guarantee that if the HOSA members choose to vote me as one a part of the officer team for next year, it will not be a decision to regret.

What Health Science class are you taking in next year?
Practicum in Health Sciences (Pharm-Tech), AP Biology
Why are you fit for the officer team?
I believe that in order to be fit for the officer team you must be able to communicate proficiently and form strong senses of trust between peers as these qualities contribute greatly to the functionality of a team. Throughout my experiences in school, in America and Australia, I have had the opportunity to work in teams among my peers for very extensive periods of time. From personal experience I've learnt that in team projects if there is even the slightest of miscommunications entire steps toward the end goal can be thrown out of balance. As a result of this, I have come to understand how crucial the communication between each team member truly is. In addition to the importance of communication, there must also be trust, as being able to fully trust the people around you in times of high stress or when there are deadlines approaching is key in facilitating major tasks. Through personally training and meeting new boxers at my gym as well as running my car washing business I have been able to grow my skills of building relationships that foster a strong sense of trust. Striving to make deeper connections with the people that surround me has also contributed heavily to the expansion of my interpersonal skills of trust building.

What does HOSA mean to you?
In my perspective, HOSA represents a gateway to a deeper level of involvement into the field of healthcare. HOSA has a vast variety of opportunities to become more active within the health sciences field from volunteering to competitions. Although I am yet to be a member of HOSA, my commitment to becoming an effective healthcare professional who can improve the standard of care available for the surrounding community is unwavering. I see HOSA as a powerful tool that can be utilized by dedicated students to further their experiences as well as knowledge to elevate care quality. Additionally, HOSA means being a part of a community. I have personally had the chance to see the strong sense of community and the powerful bonds that members share with one another that HOSA is able to provide for its members in some of the health science classes that I am currently enrolled in.
What are your other obligations? (job, extracurriculars, etc.)
My other obligations beyond my schoolwork includes boxing training 4 times a week, volunteer work at an assisted living facility every week, piano lessons once a week, as well as running my car washing business on the side. Beyond this school year I have been accepted into 2 competitive summer volunteer programs at 2 different hospitals where I will gain a collective 200 hours of volunteer work. Although I have other obligations if I have the opportunity to be a HOSA officer, HOSA will always be my top priority.
In your opinion, what qualities are essential for an effective officer, and how do you embody these qualities?
I believe that to be truly effective as a HOSA officer you must not think of being effective as just another skill but more as an attitude. An effective officer must be able to think ahead and be strategic, adapt to any situation, all while being able to lead others productively. My ability to plan and think beyond the present stems from my training in boxing as you are required to spend every second in the ring thinking about your opponent's next move. I have learned to apply that skill to other aspects of my life while building upon it to become a more capable organizer and student. Beyond being a successful strategist, being adaptable is vital. From being uprooted from my past hometown to handling drastic changes in my place of musical practice I have been able to embrace any change that I face in order to thrive rather than simply survive. Concurrent with being adaptable, leading the team fruitfully is indispensable. From coaching new boxers in my gym to correcting their form to being in their corner during sparring I have been able to build leadership skills and learn how to teach others effectively. From what I have experienced throughout my life I believe that being effective has become a fundamental life principle that I live by.
What initiatives/improvements/ideas do you feel need to be implemented into the officer team?
As a candidate for a HOSA officer position I believe that there can always be a way to make something more inclusive and welcoming. I believe that a mentorship initiative that pairs experienced HOSA or knowledgable health science students with new high school students interested in health or HOSA members who are just getting into the health science scene would be extremely beneficial to not only the strength of the community but also provide a feeling of support for new health students. There would be a sign up where students who want to learn more about getting involved and want someone by their side to guide them and help get them on the right path for their journey in health. This program would also serve as a viable way to gain leadership experience for the mentors as they would be leading their partner through the start of their path into the medical field. Whether it be after meetings or at planned get togethers the mentors will have the opportunity to teach their partner everything they know from volunteer programs and how to get accepted into one to personal experiences the mentors have had. This program is a way for new students to get personalized aid and genuine support. Another addition that would be helpful is creating a more extensive communication system between members, officers, and program leaders, that incorporates the use of digital and traditional communication techniques. This idea could possibly be carried out through an app that is able to be downloaded by all members, for example an app called “Band” where posts can be made by the leaders that provide information to all members at once. There are a variety of features that streamline communication and can be implemented with ease while all being of no financial cost to all users. From this improvement we can ensure that all members of HOSA are informed and up to date on all deadlines, activities, and important information. Beyond those initiatives I have many more ideas that can improve the interactiveness and opportunities to meet new people within HOSA.
Why should HOSA members vote for you?
I hold the members of HOSA in very high regard as they directly portray their dedication to health sciences by being a part of this esteemed organization. Due to that I believe that they deserve a team of officers who are not only equally as dedicated to the health sciences but also determined to improve our HOSA community in any way. As a disciplined student, boxer, and pianist, I am beyond committed to the healthcare field and to making sure that things run as smoothly as possible. My devotion to becoming a healthcare professional is reflected in my engagement in volunteer work, related educational success, and my strong desire to learn about the extensive subject. I have taken almost every health science class possible and I have begun volunteer work anywhere possible. In voting for me, HOSA members will be appointing a candidate who will listen and learn from what others have in order to ensure that every voice is heard and valued. I vow to always give one hundred percent towards the task at hand, and work to improve the inclusivity of this organization. With the support of HOSA’s members I believe that I will be able to work with the other officers in order to transform this year's HOSA chapter into one that not only holds success and growth for all but also a lot of fun.
