Information concerning the covid19 pandemic:
As a branch of the national organization, HOSA, we have to set ourselves as examples for our peers and families. The recent strains of the novel coronavirus have proven to affect all ages, which is why we advise you to practice proper social distancing and take caution with your surroundings.
Thankfully, the technology is constantly evolving, allowing us to understand these aspects of SARS-CoV-2*:
1) The novel coronavirus risk can easily be minimized by proper handwashing. This is because of its delicate membrane, which is easily broken by soap.
2) The spread of coronavirus typically occurs through respiratory droplets. This is why the CDC recommends a distancing of six feet or more from others, especially in populated areas
3) It is also possible to get COVID19 from infected surfaces. Properly disinfected surfaces prevent further infections and risks
As members of GOHOSA, we aspire to be the next generation of future healthcare workers. Although we remain at home, we should remain diligent in both our schoolwork and current happenings in America. There is no current vaccine for this virus, but there have been many successes regarding the treatment of COVID19. Even with this in consideration, the United States is still short of many supplies such as masks, PPE, ventilators, and even doctors. The World Health Organization (WHO) announced the COVID19 as a pandemic on March 11th, and this matter should not be taken lightly.
In order to best keep yourself and others safe, please follow these guidelines:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- Stay home if you believe you are sick, or if you came in contact with someone who has been
*Please note that SARS-CoV-19 is the virus that causes the disease COVID19
