President

Being the Grand Oaks HOSA Secretary for the past two years has taught me a lot. It has helped me step out of my comfort zone, serve a purpose larger than just me, and most important of all, connect HOSA members with the community in an effort to advance the medical field and help others. From being a leader on my basketball team, being a HOSA officer, taking challenging classes, and competing at Area competition, I have gained the confidence and experience to lead this club.  For anyone who doesn’t know me, I have dreamt of having a job in the medical field for as long as I can remember, and I will bring this passion and dedication to HOSA as your next President. I would like to be your HOSA President because I see the potential that HOSA has, and I feel prepared to bring HOSA to the next level. My goals for HOSA this upcoming school year are to have more student involvement, community outreach, and competitors in HOSA competition. With your vote, my fellow officers and I can make HOSA a more fun, beneficial, and worthwhile club to be a member of.

Leading into my third year as a HOSA officer, I have had some of the most fun times with my fellow officers while planning and deciding what is best for our club. With that said, I think I am as prepared and ready for this position as president as I can be. My time with HOSA has taught me many lessons and shown me many new adventures. Being a HOSA officer along with having a job and school, I have learned how to manage my time wisely and prioritize what is important to me. I believe that you should vote for me because I would love to serve you all along with our community. I want to take into consideration what the members of HOSA think and guide my officers to have the best year yet. With many incoming freshmen, I hope that this becomes our most successful year yet and that we can have a huge impact on our community and the people around us. HOSA has shown me the ropes of the medical field and has truly introduced me to my career path and what I love to do. I hope that we can make HOSA a fun, enjoyable time while also providing you with information, volunteering, and new experiences. I hope you are all staying safe during these hard times and I wish I could talk to all of you in person, but don't forget to vote me, Sarah Christensen, for 2020-2021 HOSA President. I can't wait to build traditions with all of you.

I’m super honored to be running for Vice President for the third consecutive year at Grand Oaks. My role is responsible for community service, and I’m so glad that I get to be a part of a club that values public service. I love knowing that we can make a difference in our community, especially during such trying times. So super excited to make next year the best one yet, and with that in mind, please vote for me!! 😁😁

Secretary

Being an officer for GOHOSA for the past two years has been a great honor, and it would bring me a lot of joy to continue serving this community. Spending a lot of my time working behind the scenes has taught me that I previously took such ministrations from others for granted. I am now opting to run for secretary of HOSA because I have decided that I am ready to go beyond my comfort zones and better serve the extracurricular club I treasure most. As secretary, I vow to do everything in my power to make GOHOSA a more organized club, as well as a more fun and interactive one. Every year, we see a decrease in attendance in both monthly meetings, community service events, and parties. My goal for the 2020-2021 school year is to prevent that decrease and instead encourage students to continue their participation.
HOSA was created in 1976 to nurture and inspire future healthcare workers of various backgrounds, and I am proud to continue that flame and spread it to my fellow peers. Let’s continue to be the change we want to see, together as one.

Dalila Cabrieles

Hi! I'm Dalila, an upcoming senior, and I am running for the position of secretary. As a founding member of HOSA in my sophomore year, I have watched this club flourish into an organization full of people with the same passions and ambitions. This year I had the privilege of leading a wonderful group of people during the inaugural year of Spanish National Honor Society as Co-President. Due to this, I know I am capable of bringing my capabilities to HOSA in order to further better not only this organization but every single person in it. I hope that when it comes time to select your secretary, you will check Dalila Cabrieles. I look forward to another wonderful year of HOSA, hopefully serving you!

Treasurer

Picture
Lauren Green

I want to run for HOSA treasurer because I have always been passionate about both medicine and math. Since I was younger, I knew that I wanted to be in the medical field since I was so inspired by my mom who is a dentist in the community. I aspired to be like her and help as many people as I can. You should vote for me because I have background in both the medical and mathematical fields. For the last two summers I have attended summer camps at Texas A&M University taking both veterinary medicine and sports medicine classes. I’m also two years advanced in math, taking both Pre Calculus and AP Statistics as a Sophomore. I know that if elected I could add valuable insight to the board and help make the Grand Oaks community a better place.

To me HOSA is not just a club, it's a passion, a future, and a purpose. A passion that burns for the medical field, a future that is more likely to be reached thanks to HOSA, and a purpose to help the people in need. This has been my interpretation of HOSA for the past 2 years. I have been an officer, won Area and State competitions, and served as treasurer for 1 year. As treasurer, I understand the responsibility and the wisdom needed to plan ahead for further expenses and predict how much of the budget will be used. With my current budget predictions based on the past 2 years and the constant growth of the club, I am ready to start next year strong by having all equipment expenses covered and distributed. My plan is set and my vision is clear, but it relies on your vote. I hope you make the right choice for the future of HOSA and vote for me.

reporter

Being a part of HOSA for 2 years has not only taught me more about the medical field, but enhanced my interest in certain careers I would like to pursue.  I believe that being a HOSA officer requires leadership, teamwork, dedication and professionalism.  I enjoy participating in student clubs and organizations and even have previous officer experience from FCCLA.  My previous partaking in other clubs has given me the opportunity to meet new people, work as a team and learn the importance of responsibility.  For example, I recently took part in a group presentation about the importance of bone marrow transplants and why there is a shortage.  This project was beneficial in the sense that I was able to learn how to communicate significant information in a professional manner.  In addition, I am proud to say this year I competed for HOSA and directly qualified for state by placing 1st in the region with a knowledge test in human growth and development.  I consider this accomplishment as a prime example of my dedication to HOSA as well as academics.  Being elected as HOSA reporter would allow me to use my creative visual skills and promote HOSA cohesively.  Throughout my time in high school I plan to pursue an extensive path in math and science as well as dedicating time outside of school to better the community with volunteering.

Jennifer Torres

My name is Jennifer Torres, and firstly I would like to thank all of our HOSA members for this fantastic opportunity and for considering me for the position of HOSA reporter. I have only been in HOSA for one year, but it has given me one of the most exceptional experiences of my life. I have learned many things from being a part of this organization—a few of these being leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and work ethic; all of the qualities of a great officer. Not only have I learned many valuable lessons from this organization, but I have also helped serve our community by partaking in many volunteering opportunities such as working at both of this year's blood drives, volunteer work at the Montgomery County food bank, and children's events at neighboring schools while also participating in community work on my own. I was a member of HOSA this year as a freshman and I earned the position of 2019-2020 Freshman Intern. This position gave me insight and valuable experience into what it truly means to be a HOSA officer and what it takes to fulfill such a position. My previous experience from already working in HOSA and my creative and technical skills makes me a great candidate for this position. I aspire to expand our organization and aid in providing our group with volunteer events, community service, and the experience of working for something larger than ourselves. I hope you consider this, and I thank you for your vote!

Social Chair

Picture
Sam Chutter

I, Sam Chutter, a senior, am once again running for social chair during the 2020-2021 school year.

I have enjoyed being in HOSA since my freshman year at Oak Ridge and for 2 full years at Grand Oaks. People should vote for me because I have 3 years of experience in the club, and 2 full years of working on the officer team. I have had so much fun getting to know students and introducing them into the medical field for the last couple of years and I hope to continue for this upcoming year. I plan on once again making the halloween party tradition at Grand Oaks even better than the years before, and to make it a permanent tradition at Grand Oaks. My goal is to expand the club to over 200 members, and be able to create the best fundraising ideas in order to feed the club at every event we hold. While I am an officer, I will work hard to provide food and supplies for every event we hold this year. I will also keep the instagram page up to date and will post often.

Thanks!

Historian

Picture
Diana Kong

My name is Diana Kong, I'm currently in the tenth grade, and I am running for historian. I’m currently involved with theatre and HOSA. I would like to be historian because I enjoy taking pictures, and I feel that this is a great way for me to expand my knowledge on photography by taking pictures for HOSA. I also want students of HOSA to be able to come to me if they were to have any problems, questions or concerns. I think people should vote for me because during the production of Peter and the Star Catcher, I worked with lighting, so I’m experienced when it comes to visuals. I am a determined and passionate person, whenever I put my mind to something I’ll get it done. I’m a straight-A student that’s responsible and organized with school work. I also work from time-to-time whenever I get a chance to do so. I hope you vote for me so we can take amazing pictures, and make history together.

Ella Reeves

Good Afternoon, my name is Ella Reeves and I’m running for historian. At Grand Oaks this past year, I was a member of HOSA, GOHS Band Leadership team, Spanish Honor Society, Math Honor Society, the American Heart Association Ambassador team, and track. I was able to maintain good grades, and be an active member in all of these organizations. My hours devoted to helping others in the community exceeded the requirements of the organizations. A little about me - I have 4 siblings, one in college at A&M, a sister at Grand Oaks (Grace Reeves) and two younger siblings in junior high and elementary school. As a previous member of HOSA, I’ve learned a lot about medical practices and deepened my love for health and wellness. HOSA means much more to me than just a high school club, for example: Last year, I was able to compete with others in the speaking category to talk about important matters worldwide, and I'm thankful for that opportunity. When it comes to why I choose to run for historian, it’s simple. Ever since I was little, I’ve been passionate about photography. I got my first real camera when I was in 6th grade, but just this past year I was able to save up and upgrade to a more professional one. I believe I will make a perfect candidate for this position, because I have leadership experience, I am able to manage my time well, I can take quality pictures to show people the true beauty behind this organization, and I can devote my time to taking pictures at competition, community service, and other fun things we do together.

Katelyn Lafferty

My name is Katelyn Lafferty, and I will be a sophomore in the 2020-2021 school year.  I am applying for the position of historian. I have many talents and skills that I believe would benefit the
organization as the historian. First off, I am very passionate about HOSA and the health industry in general.  Outside of school, I have been CPR trained, first aid trained and have been trained in Search
and Rescue Operations.  I consider myself servant leader.  I listen to all points of view, which gives me the fundamental knowledge to make a
good decision or to better plan my actions.  I have the ability to network with others.  I enjoy meeting new people and learning about their different experiences.  I think it is beneficial to be in club
where we all share the same passion about the health industry.  I have good event planning skills and am good at keeping everyone engaged in
events.  Lastly, I am very good at adapting to stressful situations, staying calm and maintaining order.

Thank you for this opportunity, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in the fall.
Sincerely.

Regan Kendrick

Hello everyone! I’m Regan Kendrick and I’m running to be historian for HOSA in the next school year. I’m very passionate about volunteer work and doing whatever I can to help those in need, and I particularly enjoyed participating in HOSA events such as the Heart Walk in this past school year. I have also been accepted to the GOHS Athletic Training program and look forward to continuing my involvement in the health services activities within our school. I’m extremely devoted to my education and very focused with regards to my grades and aiding others in their learning. I want to be a part of HOSA leadership to help continue to build and improve this great organization. I’d particularly love to be historian and believe I’m well equipped to handle the job due to my previous experience in photography and editing. I’ve been taking out of school courses which often require photography and video production in projects, and I’ve grown to appreciate both as outlets for my creativity.

I’m truly looking forward to being with everyone again and making next year a fantastic year for HOSA!
