PRESIDENT

Fabian De La Cruz
Tell us about yourself:
I am currently a Junior (rising senior) and taking Health Science Theory. I plan on taking the EMT class next year to further my experience in the medical field. My end goal is to become a Cardiothoracic surgeon. I plan to go to a four year college for biomedical science, and then go to medical school to continue my education. I work part time during the summer at Panda Express to get work force experience in the real world. I’m currently the competition chair on GOHOSA’s 22-23 Officer Team. In my free time I enjoy powerlifting, playing video games, and watching Netflix. I can’t wait to make a difference for this chapter next year!
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
I want to be a HOSA Officer because I spent the 22-23 school year as this chapter’s competition chair, and our chapter saw extreme success in competition. We were the number one chapter for participation at Area and State. I believe that I played at least a small part in that success. I loved talking to members and giving assistance or answering questions whenever it was needed. The interaction in this club has always felt like home thanks to our amazing officer teams and I would love nothing more than to be the president of such an amazing organization and chapter.
How were you in active HOSA?
I have been active in HOSA in several ways. My sophomore year I joined HOSA for my first year and competed in CPR/First Aid. I also received more than the 12 hours of community service required to get one step closer to lettering. My junior year I became the Competition Chair of our chapter. With this position I organized 130+ competitors into their selected competitions. Then I registered each student individually by their name, grade, contact information, and competition (as well as organized teams). I did so for online testing, area competition, state competition, and I will also do so for internationals. Also during my junior year, I achieved 21 community service hours to complete my requirements for lettering. I have been, and continue to be, very active in this organization, and I plan to continue doing so next year.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
My leadership experience starts in our HOSA chapter as the competition chair. In this position I was in charge of the participation and success of 130+ competitors. I was also an officer in the chapter which is a leadership opportunity alone. It was amazing to help lead an entire school organization along side the other officers. My leadership experience also extends into the real world with my part time job over the summer. I worked at Panda Express for 2 months last summer and plan to return this summer. Despite being there for only 2 months I quickly climbed the ladder in the work place and gained the recognition of my manager. I received a pay raise within just a month of working and was also guaranteed a job for this upcoming summer when I turned in my two weeks notice last summer. My manager said that my work ethic and communication made for excellent leadership qualities in the store which helped me stand out to her as a leader. I really hope to continue to lead at Panda Express this summer as well as lead this chapter as your president next year.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
Competition Success - Being that I was competition chair I have large goals for competition. Seeing that we were the number one chapter for participation at area and state I want to continue this pattern and do the same next year. I also would love to advance even more students next year.
Speakers - I would love to have several speakers within the medical field come talk to our chapter next year. I learn best by hearing real examples and stories from those directly involved in the medical field. I believe this is a pattern seen for many other students and being that HOSA is for future health workers I believe it would benefit the whole organization largely.
Intern Involvement - As the competition chair this year I noticed our interns were very eager to assist the officer team which was very exciting to see. However, I noticed that a lot of the jobs we were completing as officers were difficult to teach the interns which made it hard for the interns to get hands on experience with the jobs of officers. I would like to incorporate a system allowing our officers to interact with and teach the interns how to do different aspects of their jobs. This will allow them to decide what position they would like to run for the next year and it would allow them to be more involved in the officer team.

Alvin Luu
Tell us about yourself:
I'm Alvin Luu, a Junior currently, and I am enrolled in multiple AP classes, Health Science Theory, and Pharmacology. I am a ambitious hard worker, a team player, and I like to lead other. I am able to teach other students as I have done in the past and I believe that these qualities make me qualified to run for Presidency.
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
I want to be a HOSA officer because I want to be part of something more than I already am and being an officer will give me that chance to see beyond the horizon. I also believe that being part of the HOSA officer team will help reinforce better qualities within myself and build a stronger relationship with our community as I grow alongside it.
How were you in active HOSA?
I have participated in a couple of meeting, and competed for HOSA Bowl making it to Area and State. I've unfortunately haven't been able to attend the community service events as I had no one to drive me however I will give it my best effort to attend next year's community service events.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
Previous leadership experiences I have are being Student Council President, a historian for NJHS and being the scout leader during my time in Boy Scout of America.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
Some ideas I have is to go to the Mathnasium and help tutor the children as a way to develop the younger generation while still giving back to the community. Another idea is to go to a park and clean it up, though the work may be tedious it'll do a lot for both the community and the environment. We could also to a breast cancer run/walk it would consist of running or walking around the track and various other events. We would have the people who have the most laps done get a prize and hold a mini pagent(for guys) for fun and have everybody enjoy the event while we fundraise to see who collected the most money from competing school.

VICE PRESIDENT

Princess Mendoza
Tell us about yourself:
Hello, my name is Princess Mendoza, and I am currently a junior in high school. As a Straight-A student in both AP and DC courses, I am committed to my academics and strive to challenge myself with advanced classes. However, my involvement in extracurricular activities is just as important to me. I am a member of several organizations such as Speech and Debate, AP Ambassadors, and the National Spanish Honor Society, where I am able to develop my leadership skills and work with others who share my interests. This year, I have been given an incredible opportunity to compete in World Schools Debate, among 50 teams at State Competition, as a result of my extracurricular involvement. In my free time, I enjoy reading novels, watching popular films, and engaging in activities that allow me to give back to my community. Helping others has always been a passion of mine, and I have been involved in various volunteering opportunities since a young age. From the fourth grade, I started tutoring younger children, participated in fundraisers, and acted as a student mediator for younger kids having trouble solving minor conflicts. This passion has stayed with me throughout high school, where I have accumulated over 90 hours of community service by helping set up and clean up church and school events, tutoring younger children, assisting wherever I can in nursing homes, and participating in other miscellaneous events. Volunteering has been such a rewarding experience for me, as I am able to see the positive impact I am making on the lives of others. These passions have shaped me into the person I am today and have motivated me to pursue a career in Pharmacy, where I will be able to use my skills and knowledge to help others in a meaningful way.
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
As someone who is deeply committed to HOSA and the healthcare community, I am passionate about continuing my role as a HOSA Officer for many reasons. Serving as a HOSA Officer has opened countless doors for me and has presented many opportunities that I am eager to pursue. Not only have I grown as a leader, but I have also developed valuable skills in communication and teamwork that I believe will serve me well in my future endeavors. In my time as a HOSA Officer, I have learned what it means to have people depend on me and to take on greater responsibility. I am proud of the work that our chapter has done to positively impact the lives of our members and the community. From organizing community service opportunities to preparing for and competing in HOSA competition, our chapter has become one of the biggest and best in our area and the state of Texas. I am especially passionate about expanding our involvement in community service and assist in leading this key sector of our organization. Volunteering has always been a rewarding experience for me, and I believe that as a HOSA chapter, we have the ability to make a real difference in the lives of those around us. Beyond my commitment to HOSA and community service, I am also deeply invested in our chapter's culture and community. From cheering for one another during competition to our member socials, we have created such a welcoming community for all. For many of us, GOHOSA has become a second family, and I believe that maintaining and expanding upon this sense of community is essential to our continued success. Ultimately, I am passionate about making a meaningful impact in HOSA and our community. I am dedicated to putting in the effort and dedication necessary to help our chapter continue to thrive and achieve our goals.
How were you in active HOSA?
Throughout my two years as a member of HOSA, I have had the opportunity to participate in various activities that have allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. During my first year, I was eager to get involved and participate in any way possible. I attended community service events such as the Annual American Heart Association Heart Walk and Tree Planting Event, which allowed me to give back to my community and make a difference in the lives of others. I also committed to attend regular meetings, parties, and socials in order to connect with other HOSA members who shared my interests. In addition to these activities, I participated in a testing competition event for Medical Math, where I was able to showcase my skills and knowledge in a competitive setting and place 4th in the area. This experience not only helped me to develop my abilities but also gave me the confidence to pursue leadership positions within the organization. As a result, I was able to utilize the connections, experiences, and involvement from my first year to enhance my credibility as a HOSA member and ultimately, to get elected as this chapter's HOSA Treasurer. During my second year, as an Officer, I significantly increased my involvement and activity within HOSA. I made it a priority to become involved in any way I can. I also volunteered at our school's Fall Blood Drive as a runner, which allowed me to be of service to others, one of my passions. In addition, I dedicated myself to competition this year by attending weekly Parliamentary Procedure practices, where I worked closely with my team to develop our skills and improve our chances of success. This dedication and hard work paid off, as we were able to place 4th in the State. This experience taught me the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and dedication, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have represented GOHOSA in the state.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
As the current HOSA Treasurer, I have gained valuable experience and skills that I believe will be extremely useful in the role of Vice President. Through this position, I have learned how to work collaboratively with others, lead by example, and contribute to executing events such as Area Mock Competition and the Blood Drive. Additionally, my involvement as an Officer has provided me insight into the importance of teamwork, dedication, and hard work in achieving our goals as a chapter. My leadership skills have expanded outside of HOSA. As an AP Ambassador, I have helped underclassmen prepare for their AP exams and provided guidance to help them succeed. Additionally, I have tutored my peers and younger students in various subjects, and last year, I had the opportunity to teach Italian students the basics and style of debate over Zoom, which taught me how to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. My extensive community involvement has taught me the value of taking initiative in leading in the community. All of these experiences have highlighted the importance of teamwork, communication, and dedication in achieving success. I am confident that my skills and experiences make me well-suited for the role of Vice President, and I am ecstatic about bringing these qualities to the table to help our chapter flourish.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
I believe that one way we can distinguish GOHOSA from other organizations at our school is by hosting a unique event that showcases our organization's focus on the medical field. For example, the National Honor Society hosts school events such as the Homecoming Festival and Rho Kappa hosts In particular, I believe that hosting a Health Fair could be a great idea. By hosting a Health Fair, we could invite members of our community, as well as feeder schools in our area, through social media and by word of mouth, to come and learn more about important health-related topics. We could create a presentation on public health and cover topics such as cleanliness techniques and proper use of a first-aid kit. By providing this information, we would be helping to educate and empower members of our community to take charge of their own health and wellbeing. To make the event more engaging, we could also set up interactive booths where attendees could learn about different medical conditions, practice first-aid techniques, or try their hand at medical simulations. To show our appreciation for their attendance, we could give out mini first aid kits as thank you gifts, which could be acquired through donations or by using a small portion of our chapter's funds. By hosting an event like this, we would not only be providing a valuable service to our community, but also promoting our organization in a positive way within our community and school. This would help us to improve member outreach and recruitment, as well as increase community service opportunities. We would also be creating a sense of fulfillment and pride among our members to motivate them to become more involved in our organization. Overall, I believe that a Health Fair would be a great way to showcase our organization's unique focus on the medical field and make a positive impact in our community. I understand that organizing a large event like this will take a ton of careful planning and time, but I am willing to sacrifice time and energy in making this idea come to life.

Tell us about yourself:
Hard working, adaptive, and open minded. These three words describe me as an individual. Being enrolled in classes such as AP and Dual credit has given me no option but to work harder. Keeping up with these classes and sacrificing hours has taught me to push even harder. When it comes to Hosa competition, I am on a whole other level of hard work, but it evidently is all worth it in the end. I consider myself to work good with change, I deal with change all the time. I lived in Europe for five years, these years I had adapted to the customs in Europe. Once I returned back to Texas it was hard for me fit in but I found my ways and adjusted for the better. Along with this, the whole process of moving on multiple instances has taught me to look at all events or even my daily life with an open mind. It is easy for people to be ignorant but this quality helps me be a better listener and overall take into consideration those around me.
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
After being in Hosa for three years, it has encouraged me to strive for this position and do it to the best of my abilities. This officer experience is perfect considering the amount of time I have put aside my senior year. I have been taking Ap and dual credit classes, so I find myself to be extremely organized and I am big on planning. The responsibility of being officer would most definitely help me exercise my leadership skills and keep me on my toes. Hosa competition has been a kind of commitment that is incomparable, it truly has made me more social and confident in my abilities altogether. The amazing bonds that have resulted from my Hosa experience already is something I appreciate immensely. My passion for the medical field is something I value tremendously. I hope I can bring the comfort and memorable experiences for the Hosa organization.
How were you in active HOSA?
Throughout the years I attended the Trunk or Treat, Alzheimer's walk, Heart walk, Cereal box drive, Toy drive. I also attend majority if not all of the meetings throughout the year. What I am very passionate and active in is Hosa competition, this commitment helps me stay focused on my goals.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
My previous leadership would have to be my Youth group. I am very involved and stay dedicated to the role I play. My role is to put in my efforts and bring more people to join along with helping around when needed. I stay updated and am very good at guiding those around me. My responsibilities are very important to make sure this organization runs smoothly. My dedication and passion for my Youth Group is a big role that has transformed me.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
Since I joined Hosa I was always so thrilled for all the volunteering opportunities. During winter break, my mom and I did volunteering through her company. I would love to introduce many ideas of volunteering work. I did a lot of work with my church and with the food bank, there is always help needed. Another idea I am very convinced will go well is doing a big social with other Hosa organizations from other schools. This social would be around summer time. We would do a field day or carnival with all sorts of fun activities. A new idea for a party would be a designated day for a guest speaker to come in. I feel that when we bring informative individuals it changes many perspectives and is engaging for everyone.

I feel that when we bring informative individuals it changes many perspectives and is engaging for everyone.

Tell us about yourself:
I am a current tenth grader. I took Principles of Health Science last year, I am taking Medical Terminology this year, and I had high A's in both classes. I have a 4.0 GPA, and I am taking, and have taken several honors and AP classes. I can speak three different languages, including Hindi, English and Spanish, though I am still learning Spanish. I plan on going into neuroscience, specifically to become a neurologist or neurosurgeon when I grow up. I love helping people, which is why I want to go into the medical field in the first place. I am also very determined and hard working. I can also talk with several people in order to convey my ideas and thoughts. In my free time, I usually play the piano, or just watch TV with my family, specifically, Indian TV, or something science related.
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
I want to be a HOSA officer because it would allow me to help the HOSA community by giving people opportunities to learn more about the medical field, and give them a more hands on experience. Through that, I also hope to make the HOSA experience a more fun and enjoyable experience for the HOSA community.
The other reason why I would like to be a HOSA officer is because I believe it would be a good experience to have, since it would allow me to have more experience in public speaking, helping people, and leading. Being a HOSA officer would also help give me even more experience in being a part of the decision making process.
How were you in active HOSA?
I have helped volunteer at walks with HOSA, and have participated in the food/toy drives, my favorite of which being the Heart Walks. I have also been at several of the parties, including the end of the year, Halloween, and Christmas parties, and have attended most of the meetings. Moreover, I have also competed for HOSA doing the Medical Terminology Test.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
I have led at different organizations like at a Teachers Aid that I did in which I had to lead the different volunteers, to arrange, pack, and distribute different supplies to teachers, and I have helped teachers get what they need. Furthermore, I have also led in many different group projects, in which I have had to distribute the work among my group members.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
I plan on helping give more volunteer opportunities for HOSA. Specifically I would like to give HOSA members the opportunity to go volunteer at places like hospitals, or any place medical related, so that they can get an in depth experience of what it is like to have a career in the medical field and better understand what happens behind the scenes. I also want to give people the opportunity to go on field trips and see how doctors interact with patients, and how they use technologies like an MRI machine to help diagnose and treat their patients. I want to do this by contacting different institutions and hospitals, asking them whether or not our HOSA members can come to see how they do things, give us a tour, or allow us to volunteer there.
I would also like to see if we can arrange for some equipment for HOSA members so they can come, see and look at, or even use, just to get an idea of how they might be used in the real world, and get some experience with them. Another idea I have to help fund HOSA is to have fundraisers, so that our HOSA members can enjoy both lower membership fees, and have access to newer equipment, and it would also allow us to go on field trips, like I mentioned earlier.

Allie Lewis
Tell us about yourself:
Over the past two years in HOSA, I have grown in my confidence and leadership skills. I have learned to strive for things that scare me instead of doing what is “safe” so that I can achieve the things I really want. As an officer I hope to encourage other students to do the same, so that they can learn to believe in themselves, as well. More than anything, my passion is to help and serve others, which is what drives me to have an interest in medicine, and aspire to be a nurse midwife. Thankfully I have known that I want to go into the medical field since long before high school, giving me the opportunity to take any and all of the medical classes possible. I also find joy in working with children, so I spend a lot of my time working with them, both as a volunteer and through babysitting. Others would describe me as empathetic, organized, caring, structured, and detail-oriented. I greatly value relationships and forming long-lasting connections. In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my family, hanging out with friends, writing, volunteering, and spending time outside.
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
I have a desire to be an officer not only because I have greatly enjoyed my time as a member, but because I believe in this organization and the impact we can have on our community. When I first became a HOSA member, I never would have anticipated the years to come. My first year was spent learning who we are as an organization, getting to know other members, and forming relationships. This time last year I considered running for an officer position, but felt I had more to learn first. That being said, this year I have dedicated time and effort into learning from our current officer team and gaining a better understanding of what their jobs look like behind the scenes and what the secretary position would entail. Throughout this year, my desire for becoming an officer has grown stronger. If elected, my hope would be to help newer members experience the same acceptance and welcoming community that I found, while encouraging them to push themselves outside of their comfort zones and step into their medical calling. As our HOSA secretary, I feel that I would be able to contribute my organizational skills to help further our chapter.
How were you in active HOSA?
Throughout my time in HOSA, I have made it a priority to attend nearly all meetings and social events in order to maximize my experience and get to know other members. I have also completed quite a bit of community service, including fundraising walks, food and toy drives, and many hours on my own outside of HOSA. Both years that I’ve been a member, I have participated in competition, within the nutrition testing category. I was honored to go straight to state both years after earning 1st and 2nd in online competition. Going to state was an unforgettable experience and I encourage all members to compete, if able.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
This past year I had the opportunity to step into a leadership role within my church by forming (and now helping lead) a special needs children’s ministry. A large part of my job while first starting up was creating a spreadsheet of all of our volunteers, or what we call our “buddies”, for their one-on-one work with our special needs kids. My job is to manage volunteers, help create curriculum for our classroom, advocate for our kids, and ensure that we maintain a kind, loving environment for both our buddies and our students. Additionally, I have tutored younger children, and have been a leader for various kids’ summer camps, such as Carolina Creek. Last summer, I had an opportunity to go to Washington and Oregon to help lead sports camps for underprivileged children.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
I have noticed that throughout our community, most people are unaware of HOSA. Unfortunately, this is also common with younger students who aren’t aware of this opportunity. I would like to see us partner with York Junior High to do a presentation for their students so that they can become involved once they reach Grand Oaks. It would be wonderful if we could assist them in starting their own chapter and mentor younger student leaders. I would also like to see us have effective guest speakers come to our meetings and discuss their role in the medical community so that members can gain a deeper understanding of how different jobs interrelate. Finally, I would like to make special needs kids who have an interest in the medical field become more aware of ways to participate in HOSA activities.

Halle Ardoin
Tell us about yourself:
My name is Halle Ardoin, and I have been a part of HOSA for three years now. Me and my team have made top ten in the HOSA State Conference two years in a row! I maintain my A's and B's in all Honors, AP, and DC classes. In school I am involved in NEHS and NAHS, and outside of school I am heavily involved in National Charity League. After high school I plan on attending college and majoring in nursing!
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
HOSA has taught me how to develop responsible characteristics and leadership skills, and being a leader to such an incredible organization here at Grand Oaks would help me gain and experience more of these qualities as I strive to acquire motivation and support from my peers in becoming a future health professional. I love HOSA with all my heart, and I hope that as an officer I can help guide and support fellow students just like past officers have done for me as I prepare myself to be a future leader in the medical field.
How were you in active HOSA?
I have made an effort to attend every meeting that I can as well as participate in Halloween and Christmas parties. I have donated to various food drives such as the thanksgiving and cereal drive, and every year I donate to Toys for Tots as well.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
I was president one year for my 2024 National Charity League chapter. My duties were to create agendas for meetings, make motions, call meetings to order, adjourn meetings, etc. I also was a part of Conroe’s Leadership Academy where I learned leadership, social, teamwork, and even interview skills and qualities helping prepare me for the future.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
Many of Grand Oak’s extra curricular events have banquets at the end of every year, and I believe that that would be a great idea for us! HOSA is one of the biggest organizations in the school and having an end of year banquet style event to celebrate all of our members’ achievements and accomplishments made throughout the school year would be a great way to end the year on a happy note for our members!

TREASURER

John Thomas
Tell us about yourself:
I'm a rising senior. I'm ranked top 20% in my class, and I've taken multiple AP courses, and held an A in most all of them. I'm a current HOSA member and I'm also in both SNHS and Rho Kappa, and I've been invited to join National Honor Society. I'm also a student athlete, and I've run track since freshman year. I've taken all health science classes available to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, and I've held an A in all of them. Next year I will be taking Pharmacy Tech. I went to State for HOSA this year for HOSA Bowl, a team which I founded, and I plan to compete in the same event next year and make it farther.
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
I want to be more involved with HOSA and I want to have a leading role in our school's chapter. I feel I am prepared to learn what it takes and I know it will improve my abilities in a variety of ways. I think I can be successful in this position and help improve our organization and I can use my position to help my fellow HOSA members.
How were you in active HOSA?
- Joined Sophomore year.
- Competed in Medical spelling sophomore year, but did not make it to area.
- Founded the first HOSA Bowl team at our school, and led them to area, and from there to State, where we placed top 8.
- Completed multiple hours of community service this year.
- Helped set up and clean up for several meetings parties throughout the past 2 years.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
I was most recently the founder of our school's first HOSA Bowl team and was the Captain. I am a leader in track, helping younger students learn the skills and rules needed to be successful in the sport, and I help manage the team supplies when going to and from meets. I had several leadership roles in middle school, being the captain of the trivia team, and a captain of the chess club, soccer team, and I was a leader in the track team.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
I currently have no ideas for the upcoming school year, but I'm sure once the school year approaches and more information is present I will have solid ideas that with the help of my excellent fellow officers and other HOSA members, we can implement to improve ideas, events, and more. I think I could find ways to improve spending for parties, as well as better arrangements for transportation for HOSA members competing at area or state.

I am a sophomore and I have been in HOSA for two years now and have competed in the Family Medicine area. I have always been interested in medicine so HOSA has always been a great place for me and it’s great getting to know others who have the same interests as me. I would describe myself as responsible, a hard worker, and a good team player.
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
I want to be a HOSA officer because I have been apart of HOSA for a while now and want to start getting involved and have a say in what we all do. I would be a really good officer because I am reliable and you can trust that I will always follow through. I am also a really good team player and could get along with anyone. I’m a hard worker and very social.
How were you in active HOSA?
I have been to many volunteering events in my past two years as a member and I have been to every meeting. I have also competed twice and last year I even made it to state.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
This will be my first officer position and I hope to gain experience and learn from it. I work as a studio advisor at a yoga studio and I take the lead in meeting the needs of customers and helping in planning a lot of our events.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
I believe that we should have more events where all our members can get to know each other better so we could all be more connected. This could be having more games at parties and making sure a majority of the people participate. This could be especially important for new members coming in next year so they can feel comfortable.

Snehal Srishti
Tell us about yourself:
Hey! I’m Snehal, and I want to introduce Health Science as an interest to others throughout the school. My passion for medicine is constantly growing, and I would love to pursue it as my career. I competed for HOSA this year and advanced to state, which helped deepen my understanding of Medical Terminology, and was also a fun experience! I love to read and swim, and I play the violin. I love everything science and can wait to learn more things. I look forward to another year in HOSA!!
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
In my first year of HOSA, I have already gotten to be a part of so much and made many amazing memories with various members. It has been an incredible experience, and I would love to take it one-step further and be more involved in the management and actively contribute to the success of this organization. I want to make HOSA a fun place for everyone, and use this opportunity to strengthen my ability to work in teams and fulfill responsibilities. Managing fundraising events/ideas and making funding cost effective also interests me, and it’s something I would really enjoy doing!
How were you in active HOSA?
This year I have volunteered at the Heart Walk and the SPFBC Walk, competed at area (online testing for my category) and state, and attended nearly every meeting and social. During the Christmas Social, my team won the Ugly Sweatshirt/trashbag costume contest (??) and that was lots of fun! I’ve taken two medical classes so far (Medical Terminology and Principles of Health Science), and I have also assisted in student physicals.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
As treasurer, my key qualities would be my skills with financial strategy and mathematics. I’m supportive of others around me and like to have a positive outlook on life, which helps me follow through with my responsibilities and stay dedicated and committed. I try my best to make valuable contributions and like to keep things organized. My leadership skills have grown through being part of the NJHS officer team and being part of team events and organizations such as DI, Student Council, Orchestra Student Council, UIL, and many more. I have lots of experience working on a team, and I think my skills will be beneficial to the officer team!!
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
Some of the ideas I would like to implement in the upcoming school year include more involvement opportunities for club members, such as possible lessons on basic body systems or classes on emergency medicine/basic life support. This will improve club participation, and provide an opportunity for those who couldn’t take a health course or are deeply interested in the subject to learn more and expand that interest. We could also create “CPR stations” open to the entire community where HOSA members with CPR certifications teach people CPR for $3-$5, which will help raise money. CPR is also a basic life skill, so not only is it beneficial to others, but people will also be interested in participating.

I have competed in Hosa since I have been a member and this year I made it to state with my team and we placed 4th. I absolutely love and adore Hosa as an organization and I will try my best to be the best competition chair and give GOHOSA the recognition it deserves.
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
Since my freshman year I knew that I loved Hosa and that I wanted to do it during the entirety of my high school experience. I think that this would be an amazing experience for me and I could learn a lot from it. I have watch GOHOSA grow and I feel as if I have a real connection with all our members and I love meeting them and helping them with any questions they may have. Hosa has really made a home for itself in my life and consider GOHOSA my family. I would love nothing more than to help GOHOSA grow even more and thrive in all aspects.
How were you in active HOSA?
I absolutely love community service within Hosa and the opportunities it brings. This current year I competed in the Dragon Boat Race as well as donated blood at the blood drives. Past years I have participated in almost every community service GOHOSA offered, from the Green-up Community service to the food pantry at the gateway church.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
During my Sophomore school year I had the opportunity to serve GOHOSA as an Intern. My time as intern has taught me the dynamic of how the HOSA officer team is supposed to run as well as a little inside of each officer position. This year I am currently a VP in Deca which has taught me a lot in how to be a leader and to organize events for our members and how to enable people to be the best they can be and thrive in competition.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
Ideas I have for competition this upcoming school year consists of having more workshops so that our competitors are able to study and practice their skills for their competition. I also want to try to implement a way to be able to connect members with the same competition so that they could have study sessions with one another and help each other out. I want to do my best to get our members geared up and ready for the competition season!
Tell us about yourself:
I am a rising senior and am wanting to be the next competition chair for GOHOSA 23-24. I have been a Hosa member since my freshman year, which is nearing to 3 years as a member! I have competed in Hosa since I have been a member and this year I made it to state with my team and we placed 4th. I absolutely love and adore Hosa as an organization and I will try my best to be the best competition chair and give GOHOSA the recognition it deserves.

Tara Siva
Tell us about yourself:
I am an ambitious, communicative, and resourceful individual who seeks to help all HOSA members succeed both in and out of competition. I always set high goals for myself and am unafraid to go after them. I work well with people and value constructive criticism. Finally, I am always thinking about ways to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
I want to be officer because similar to many of my HOSA peers, I am deeply passionate about medicine and want to be able to help our HOSA competitors take the next step forward in their potential path to the incredible field of medicine. Taking part in HOSA competition is an exciting opportunity to explore and gain a truer understanding of the vast world of medicine. With this position, I intend to set the path for more and more of our competitors to qualify for state and beyond in a highly organized fashion.
How were you in active HOSA?
This year I participated in competition (Medical Terminology Test) as well as multiple volunteer opportunities including the 2022 Heart Walk and a food drive.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
I held a leadership position at CISD’s own Student Leadership Academy where we learned the important qualities of leaders and how real-life leaders have implemented them into their lives.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
Unequal group participation and procrastination/lack of preparation are things I noticed were common issues when talking to my fellow HOSA members this school year. I aim to tackle these problems head on with ideas such as resolving issues within groups as early as possible and allowing groups to “officially” assign/distribute tasks equally amongst one another in order to eliminate time-waste and increase productivity as well as overall success. I will also work towards creating group study sessions before and/or after school, as bouncing ideas off each other (despite being in different competitions) can help us find new ways to study or accomplish tasks for competition more efficiently. These study sessions may also increase motivation to begin working or studying earlier on and might even increase retention of material. Another step I plan to take involves researching useful tools and websites to help with studying and making them accessible to all members.

Alexis Goldsmith
Tell us about yourself:
My name is Alexis Goldsmith, and I am currently a junior. I have been in HOSA for 3 years, and I have competed for 2 years. My competition is health education, and I have made it to state each year. Additionally, I am involved in advanced courses such as college courses and health science classes. Looking towards the future I have applied for the EMT program and hoping to be a HOSA officer as the competition chair.
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
I believe that I am a great addition to the future officer team, because I have the experience, responsibility and leadership skills to enhance HOSA as a whole. Furthermore, I have been in HOSA for 3 years and I have been a part of many of HOSA events such as area competitions, state competitions, tallo submissions, meetings, parties, and volunteer work. Not only does that show my dedication to this organization but my passion for it as well. Another reason I would like to hold a position as a HOSA officer is due to the fact that I will be a senior. As a senior I will have more time, less schoolwork, and overall, I would have more attention on the organization than others. In conclusion, after watching the officer teams from the last 3 years it has not only motivated me but has encouraged me work harder in order to achieve this goal.
How were you in active HOSA?
I have been in HOSA since freshman year, so going on 3 years. I have been involved in many volunteering opportunities such as cereal box drive, Alzheimer's walk, the heart walk, trunk or treat etc. I have also been to many of the parties and majority of the meetings. Additionally, I have also done competition for 2 consecutive years.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
Being the oldest sibling leadership is a trait that I have developed throughout my entire life. I have taken this characteristic with me in many experiences. For example, I am a manager for a lifeguard company. Taking on this role is hard and requires a good leader. At this job some of my tasks include making a weekly and monthly schedule, ensuring my employees are taken care of, making sure the environment is clean and as protocol requires, preventing injuries, and being skilled to save a life. Additionally, I am a junior leader at my church. This position not only allows me to follow what I so strongly believe in but also lead people the right way. Some duties I take care of include making games and activities, sharing a motivational speech, and checking members in the facility. Lastly, another leadership experience I have is babysitting. Babysitting allows me to take on plenty of responsibilities and taking charge to lead the children.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
I love and cherish all the traditions HOSA holds. However, one idea I would like to implement is being more involved in Texas HOSA and sharing HOSA news on a state spectrum. Another idea I have is collaborating with another school in our area. This may include a party or an idea like "HOSA Olympics." This concept would expand HOSA itself and allow members to interact.

Ayesha Hassan
Tell us about yourself:
In terms of myself, I would use words such as creative, organized, and ambitious. From an early age, I’ve had an inclination to be artistic, and I’ve been able to demonstrate that through my interest in art and photography. My childhood upbringing spent in a small town has encouraged my expression for community - and catered to my desire for philanthropy. This given idea is what ultimately drew me closer to wanting to pursue a career in the medical field. Moreover, one of my strengths is my ability to form and grow relationships with others, encouraging my own learning/growth.
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
I want to become a HOSA officer because it would be an incredible opportunity for me to participate in HOSA in a greater sense. HOSA is an incredible organization as it offers more windows to working with others and being a part of a community full of like-minded individuals. This position would allow me to be able to grow as a leader, and have a direct impact on people’s experiences within this club. I’ve appreciated my time this year as the Freshmen Intern, as it has given me the opportunity to engage in working alongside a team: participating in the development of the general meetings/socials. Furthermore, being able to attend competitions/events has given me the chance to contribute to the greater community by influencing others in a positive light, and I’m eager to be able to expand on that idea to a larger extent.
How were you in active HOSA?
My position as a Freshman Intern in HOSA, gave me many opportunities to actively participate in club activities and community service events. This year I worked at both the Fall and Spring blood drives, helped out with competition, set and cleaned up for socials, and donated cans for the Fall Food Drive held at the Gateway Church. Moreover, I attended all general meetings and guest speaker events as well as the Alzheimer’s Walk & Run and created posters for the SPFBCF (Single Parent Families Battling Cancer Foundation) marathon. Altogether, engaging in these events brought me closer to the officer team and the overall community.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
From becoming the Freshmen Intern of HOSA this year, I was able to step into a leadership role and gain experience. This job allowed me to be a role model and a guide towards other members, in addition to identifying and solving issues surrounding competition, volunteering, etc. It has given me the opportunity to take initiative of problems and put pen to paper by coming up with ideas that could settle issues. I was able to use my skills of communication and problem- solving to spread ideas that I had that could be beneficial to the problems that were present. I was also able to take initiative by being able to help organize socials, contribute to helping others with competition, and speak to engaged members about the organization and the upcoming events.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
Some ideas I have for the upcoming school year are to start a TikTok account. TikTok has increasingly become a popular social media app, it encourages audience engagement; HOSA can use this platform as a creative outlet, as a way to share memories and create videos based off of events and meetings held throughout the year. Another idea includes using a point system. This system focuses on giving members a point for every time they participate in the club, whether that’s attending the general meetings or engaging in community service events. It will give members incentive to want to actively participate in events and community service; it can serve as a reward system; at the end of the year, there can be a prize for the members with the most points. Furthermore, another idea is to host an award ceremony or banquet at the end of the year, to recognize all the members’ dedication and commitment throughout the year.

PUBLIC RELATIONS CHAIR

Wyatt Villareal
Tell us about yourself:
My name is Wyatt, I am the youngest of three children of a family of five. In my free time I love to try out new things to bake or cook. I feel like the one who really got me involved and interested in the medical field was my older sister, she has been a role model to me ever since I was young. I also love to hang out with friends when I get the chance to, and have many supportive and kind friends who have helped me at low times. A story that I find funny is, when I was born they gave me the wrong name tag/ID bracelet, so when my parents where leaving the hospital, the alarm went off and the staff thought I was being stolen, in the end everything was figured out and I got to go home.
Why do you want to be a GOHOSA officer?
I feel like this will be a great experience for me to start out from. I have tried to get into other leader positions in past clubs, but did not make it, but I have realized I am good with people, I try to make people feel included, I try to be approachable, and I try to help them when they need it. From my experience this year, HOSA is a great opportunity and also a fun club to be in, and I would love to help with HOSA by being an officer and help next years HOSA members.
How were you in active HOSA?
I have been active in mostly in the volunteer events outside of school. I do not remember what all of them were called but a few I do remember:
- Walk to end Alzheimer's
- The Heart walk
- The bike rodeo
- I've also done competition, and got to state.
What previous leadership experience do you have?
I have tried for a leadership role before, but didn't make it; I tried out in NJHS for the vice president. I also was team captain once when I was in a soccer team.
Please list and explain any ideas you have for the upcoming school year:
I feel like at the end of the year we should make a video of members of HOSA (in comp. And not in comp) and ask them about their experience and journey from the beginning of the year to the end. Then the next year we show it to the people who want to join HOSA to give them a slight idea of what HOSA is.

I am said to always bring out the best of my peers. I believe that I would be a welcoming asset towards this organization if given the opportunity. As a freshman, I instantly fell in love with the change of environment. Being apart of this organization became a passion which led to my intense drive to becoming an officer. I have found a second home, and discovered more about myself and my passions than anywhere else. I have found the love of uplifting, and serving those around me. My goal in life is to one day become a Pediatric Surgeon. This has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl, and being a part of this HOSA community has helped me realize that my dream is absolutely attainable. I am a person who strives for perfection, going above and beyond in everything that I do. I am a strong willed, yet hard working person. I believe that I demonstrate many characteristics of a leader, which has driven me to take my leadership to the next level. What an honor it’s been to work with such an amazing leadership team. I would love to continue the traditions that this HOSA chapter has made special for me. In hopes of becoming a future officer, creating connections with professionals and becoming a leader of those who share similar dreams is a goal I would like to achieve. I want to uplift this organization just as I was by the past officers. My social skills will allow me to communicate more effectively with a result of developing important relationships in this organization. My willingness to help others is a valuable asset as to why I would like to take on this officer role. I strive to be true to myself, and to my peers through honesty and open communication. I was very active throughout the fall and spring semester! I participated in several community service events including: The Dragon Boat Race, Bradley Bike Rodeo, and all of the blood drives! I also took the time to donate to all of our donation opportunities: SPFBCF Walk/Run picture, cereal box drive, canned food drive, as well as participating in all set up/clean up’s related to the social events. I have several fun ideas for the upcoming school year! I feel that it would be beneficial to have a member of the month, so that each member would be encouraged to participate in more service events/competition! Also, I feel that being interactive with more professionals/ guest speakers would be beneficial to our group. Surveys within the HOSA community would help to identify what areas of expertise would be best suited for this organization. I would like to incorporate a few medical related community service events such as volunteering at the children’s hospital! I would like to create more inclusive meetings & parties starting with games that encourage everyone’s participation! In regards to social media, I would like to become more active by posting more pictures & videos of our events and sharing the fun with everyone! This would help in the next years recruitment. Finally, I think it would be a great opportunity to get our members to interact with the officer team through a meet and greet at the start of the school year. This could potentially lead to a recruitment/ informational get together. If given this opportunity, your upcoming year in HOSA will be full of exciting opportunities & possible lifelong career connections.
